Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Think how big the chair is and the human head statue as seen on the posters. It's the same guy.

you can't tell from this picture, all you see is a bald guy and he looks way too small to fit in that chair.

^ Meet the Space Jockey unmasked.

Sometimes people only see what they want to.

That guy is much taller than the crew of the Nostromo.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

well, you guys can believe whatever you want to :lol. Looks like a regular human to me :wave

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

It's kinda is. Since that's what the Space Jockey is. Us.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

There is now. They created us. The big ol head. It all adds up.

That, and Ridley said the Dead Jockey wasn't a skeleton. It was it's suit.

So we know that's not what the Jockey actually looks like.

The bald dude is taller than a human

Also notice the Jockey is not sitting in the chair in the trailer

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I don't think the Space Jockey is us.
I think it is what made us be us.

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them

Goes with the Erich von Däniken thing that Ridley said.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

If Space Jockeys are Humans, then what was that dead Space Jockeyish creature in that image posted a few weeks ago?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

There is no doubt this is an Alien prequel.

The reason though Scott wants to distant the film and not refer to it as a 'Alien' prequel is because he believes the 'Alien' franchise has been tainted. As he said in an interview, the Alien is now in Disneyland....I don't think he looks at that as a good thing. And I'm sure he is not happy at all about the AVP films.

He's upset and maybe even embarrassed by what the 'Alien' franchise has become...something he created has been 'ruined' in his viewpoint.

So while the film is a prequel to Alien and will explain the Space Jockey's and even the origin on the Alien....he doesn't want to market it as an Alien film, since the main story in the film is about the Space Jockey's, who happen to have a connection to the Aliens.

Scott is right, while it is a prequel, it is not really an Alien film. Since the quality of Alien films has been ruined going forward (AVP, Alien 3 and 4; depends on what you think), Scott was thinking by going backward he can tell a fresh and original story.

To answer someone's question earlier, yes H.R. Giger was involved in designs for the film.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

What Nightcreeper posted is true, I do think Ridley is embarrassed by the more recent films. Prior to AvsP 20th Century Fox had approached Ridley about putting things back on track. The AvsP script was also on the table. Scott told Fox if they ever made that film he would never return to the franchise... so clearly he didn't like what he read.

If he omits The Alien it will be for that reason.

I also think it will p-ss a lot of people off.
