Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

What Nightcreeper posted is true, I do think Ridley is embarrassed by the more recent films. Prior to AvsP 20th Century Fox had approached Ridley about putting things back on track. The AvsP script was also on the table. Scott told Fox if they ever made that film he would never return to the franchise... so clearly he didn't like what he read.

If he omits The Alien it will be for that reason.

I also think it will p-ss a lot of people off.

Who cares. I really have had enough of the same old thing. Time for something new. :rock

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

well, you guys can believe whatever you want to :lol. Looks like a regular human to me :wave
Plus, in the leaked "fake" script..it says one guy steals the "bio-code", couldn't that just be that specific scene...?

Idunno what to think right now... :panic:

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Just read through all 12 pages of posts on AvPGalaxy..and some stuff made sense...

In one scene you see some guy sitting on a bed with his hands covering his head, as if he is ashamed of himself..he has no shirt on, in the background you can see someone with various bruises on their leg, nude, but covered with a blanket...definitely looks female...
Then there's the bubbling stomach scene from the leaked trailer, Noomi screaming "PLEASE!", the mutated people..

Noomi gets raped by someone who was infected with somthing..he's ashamed of what he did, she gives birth to..somthing?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yes. They're good friends, and Cameron kept pushing Scott to make another sci-fi movie again.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Ah good. I know I read an interview before where Ridley described Aliens as 'just a shoot'em up' and I've always wondered if he meant that in a bad way or a more jovial way, knowing that Cameron might hear of it.

Obviously we know Cameron likes Alien.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I'm sure he likes it. But it is true. Aliens is more shoot -em up. Alien is more visceral. Both do exactly what they should. :D
Cameron on Scott.
Ridley Scott is talking about doing an Alien prequel

That’s a strange move for him. I mean, Ridley and I talked over lunch maybe 10 years ago and I said, “Look, I’ll write it and produce it, you direct it, it’ll ****ing kick ass!” And he was like, “Yeah, let’s do it!” And nothing happened. And then they did Alien vs. Predator, and that kind of pissed in the soup. I think Ridley really should do science fiction. He made the two most iconic science-fiction films of the 20th century. When he came to visit me [on the set of Avatar] I said to him, “Quit ****ing around with these wine movies in the south of France, make another science fiction film.” And he saw the technique we were using and got all fired up about it. He turned to his producer and said, “Why am I doing this Robin Hood? I should be doing science fiction!”

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I love that they're such different types of film and yet I can fully believe they depict the same universe.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

People dog on Cameron a lot for Titanic and Avatar. I thought they were good films.

If that dialogue really took place between Cameron and Scott we have two things to thank James Cameron for:

1) Ridley returning to SciFi (hopefully a good thing)
2) No more Russell Crow epics (definitely a good thing)

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I noticed a few interesting things whilst watching the HD version of the trailer.

That most likely is the space Jockey. Look closely on the seat and you can see a more human sized head rest. He fits into it. the head they are seen examining earlier is discovered to be a biomechanical helmet. Unlike anything they have seen before, they think it's part of the creature at first. Another shot shows a 'creature/non human face' on a character jumping towards camera. Notice he is wearing a human space suit. Seen earlier in the trailer. This backs up the script which I read which said that some of the crew begining to transmutate into creatures after having contact with the all powerful genetic substance (I really don't like this idea, reminds me of Star Trek). But watch various shots in the trailer and you will see that happening, skin bubbling, people mutating. Fassbender is an android who wants to be human/alive and as far as I know he starts the trouble. The space jockey ship crashing is at the end on LV128, even though it doesn't look like it visually in the trailer.

This 100% matches the early script i read.

I will give him Titanic. Never Avatard.

If that is the same suit it looks like it is becoming encased in bio-mechanical stuff (which would explain the Jockey being fused to the chair.)

IF he is the Jockey then he has been exposed to a facehugger. Sometime between sitting in that chair and the 79 Alien film he got a chest hole.

I would imagine we will see that happen in this one. Near the end, perhaps after or during the crash for maximum drama. maybe.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Space Jockey is a Zentradi

This is the funniest thing I have read in this thread or on this board, in a long time. And it's kind of fitting, because I was just thinking something along those lines as I was driving around today. I remembered the Zentradi not fully understanding why males and females got together in our culture, since they had been fighting for so long in their own culture and were separate from the females. Was it Meltran? I can't remember, but Macross is one of my favorite Japanese films which I wish would get the proper blu ray treatment with a nice new dub, like Miyazaki films have been getting. I would probably watch it in Japanese, but it's always nice to have the option of listening to English dubs, so you can enjoy the actual visuals of the film.

Oh yeah, and also, I remember some leaked script info for Prometheus that had the engineers trying to get two males to procreate or something, which also reminded me of the confusion of the Zentradi.

:rotfl

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Macross on Blu would kick ass. I'm not sure what the status of the Harmony Gold legal clusterf-ck, but there's a whole lot of Macross that's never officially been released here.
