Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Hold on guys.
Are you refering to the synopsis wich has a citadel and time travel in it?
It's fake don't worry.
The guy who wrote it, said he just wanted to have fun and try to make up a story from what we ve know so far.

The movie has no time travel and don't take place on earth as much.
The ship seen in the trailer is not the DERELICT from Alien, it's another ship, another story.
But the derelict story will be adressed inderectly by telling history of the Engineers and their way of living, colonizing world.

If you don't want to be spoiled avoid the 2 first "fake" synopsis called "KFS" and "PARADISE".
Both were supposed to be fake but month before any images they included details that appeared in the trailer.

If you saw some of the previous leaks, you know that "something" happens to Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace character):
In Greek mythology The Titans are a race of giant powerful deities.
In one version of the PROMETHEUS myth, the Titan Prometheus was the fruit of the rape of Hera by the Titan Eurymedon.
Then Prometheus sole the fire...

Happy new year

How do you know it's fake? Link please? Everything I read went right along with the trailer, except for the end that is. That would be pretty hard to do unless you were close to the production. If he did make it up then he must be an idiot savant.

https://io9.com/5863499/leaked-prometheus-synopsis-is-an-old-fake

The begining of this fake is a cut/paste of the two previous allegedly fake synopsis KFS and PARADISE. I say allegedly because hours after KFS was released the official synopsis was modfied by fox ending up being almost a synopsis of the synopsis...
So don't worry the one with time travel is complete BS, but KFS and PARADISE are almost the real thing.

It's not hard to come up with a decent story based on the interviews, image leaks and knowing that the movie will also deal with Obannon's original concepts left out from ALIEN.
This time travel synopsis is pure ____, that doesnt fit at all in the way Scott deals with scifi.
cCan't believe people bought into that...
KFS and PARADISE are the most close to the real deal.
AVOID THEM IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED.
Trust me ;)

I've read all three of those. Well, that sucks. Now I am worried because KFS and PARADISE sound completely dull and unoriginal.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

KFS is a bit too straightforward.
PARADISE has some very nice concepts in it.
But don't worry too, they probably spoil something like 50/60% of the movie.
I suspect that the scope of PROMETHEUS is gonna end up being way more wide that what we expect...

Huh?

I've read them both and they sound dull.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I have read an early shooting script, not one of those. As I said the story that has been discussed here is correct. Also as I noted a few pages back, there was no mention of time travel in the version I read. I know this was 100% real.

But the rest is accurate. Scientists find space map. Ship goes out, finds God creators, terraformers. Big head/chamber with ampules of bio mechanical bio organic substance. Gods are proud of the first creations to find them. They are huge humanoids who wear biomechanical suits (the head in the trailer)David the droid takes the bioforming liquid (seen in trailer) is infected and begins to turn human. The crew are infected (in the trailer) and begin to transform into creatures (in the trailer). Some crew escape (in the trailer), God mechanics chase them, to punish them (adam & eve style) they are going to unlease a deadly force on earth (the aliens). Ship crashes on LV426 (in trailer). So basically it's pinocchio meets adam & eve meets Prometheus. Stealing the power of creation from the gods. Gods not happy.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Wich story are you refering to?
This?
1. Film opens with the beginning of our world.
2. Our planet is being terraformed and bioformed by seemingly all-powerful, Godlike alien entities.
3. The prehistoric ruins of the alien's citadel is discovered in Africa, around 2085.
4. In 2090, a Interstellar Research Vessel called PROMETHEUS decelerates as it reaches its target solar system.
5. Prometheus encounters a massive disturbance which hadn’t appeared on scanners, one even more powerful than a black hole. The ship is sucked into the wormhole.
6. After landing on a nearby planetoid, the crew sets out to repair the Prometheus, while Elizabeth Shaw leads a recon expedition. Shaw’s team encounters a temple and inside is a biomechanical humanoid face set within a towering pillar, as well as thousands of seemingly primitive URNS. David takes several of the urns back to the vessel for analysis.
7. Investigating the urns, David discovers that they contain the genetic material for thousands of species within a viscous liquid, which can rewrite any living organism on a cellular level. Possession of the substance gives its owner the power to create life. Vickers interacts with David and seemingly innocently leads to the Bioformer infecting David through a cut in his finger.
8. Subsequently, the crew of the Prometheus begins to fall victim to the now weaponized substance, as Holloway injects many crew members.
9. David finds that the Bioformer is making him into a biological beind, making him human. The crew also finds that their trip through the wormhole took them back hundreds of millions of years and they are actually stranded on primordial Earth.
10. Meredith Vickers is the REAL villain of the story!
11. Elizabeth and David confront the Godlike alien entities in the temple. They prove to be utterly evil, and David sacrifices himself. The former android David, it turns out, is the basis for all Mankind.
12. Shaw makes it to her escape vessel which blasts off for the wormhole. A PILOT detaches from the temple in a FAMILIAR VESSEL and follows Shaw, but is lost in the wormhole.
13.In the final scene, we see the vessel that was chasing Shaw emerge from the wormhole, still in the prehistoric past, and crash on a nearby planetoid.

Well this one is clearly a fanfic, just check the IO9 article.
It copied parts of KFS (who got the dates wrong, stort takes place in 2058 not 2085) and added alll this stupid time travel thing that is NOT in the movie and fanservice about Aliens, eggs LV426, the Derelict.

Basically this is KFS you are quoting.
Save for the Pinochio/David part.

KFS was the first one to mention a discovery on Earth that lead to the gods all the rest is also mentioned in KFS (biomechanoid suits, human infection, giants humanoids, save for the David/pinochio part) Paradise has those too...
Ages before the trailer.
These synopsis have the basic skeleton of the movie like i said maybe 50/60% only.
Dull i don't think so, they just tell the story in a simplistic way thats all, lot of details are missing.
For exemple PROMETHEUS uses a lot of the non used concepts from ALIEN, the temple, the life cycle murals. Even the Engineers design is the one we have seen ages ago on those murals.

One thing that is missing from all of the synopsis is the Hera/Eurymed story wich is clearly whats happening to Shaw ;)

Recently Spaith twitted that his story and Lindelof's are not so different.
Lindelof job was to reduce the cost and remove all the direct nods to Alien to make Prometheus work on its own.
Story stays very close to the original prequel (hence the crash wich was originaly on LV426 and was indeed of the DERELICT).
But there is no aliens anymore nor LV426 in Prometheus.
New creatures and new planet.

How is it not dull? KFS sounds like a retelling of that tale from Greek Mythology.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I don't find greek mythology dull, especially in the context of adult scifi.
Again i stress that it's only the tip of the iceberg.
Not the story as it is and will be in theatre.
If i tould the story of Alien one can find it very dull, it's the execution of the story that make a lot of what it is today.
Many ways to retold a "known" story.

KFS and PARADISE both got the start of the story right.
Both are the only one that state that the temple and the engineer's ship are the same. Both were the first to satte that the Engineer are ginat humanoids.
But both are wrong after the encounter with The Engineers.
Not completely wrong like the time travel one.

PARADISE did adress the infection of the humans and the possibility of David being changed by Engineer technology.
It doesn't adress the "rape" of Shaw and its "child".
It did adress the crash of the Engineers ship but it got the reasons wrong. The ship doesnt crash because of a fight inside it but because the human shuttle collide with it.

Just wanted to point that these two synopsis were the first to get some key points right thats all.

Well, I hope you're right because KFS sounds unoriginal, which was the point I was trying to make. :wink1:

I scrolled down really fast for fear of spoilers...

I'm trying st stay away from spoilers too. I want my mind to be empty of any potential ideas I might have when I see it for the first time.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Depends.. these aren't normal spoilers. More like conjecture and theory. At least from what I've read. To me, a spoiler is when something concrete (from a reliable, inside source) is leaked and is guaranteed to be seen. And so far, I haven't seen anything like that about this movie.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Will we see our favorite perfect organism at all.....:dunno I know it's too early to speculate. But I am looking forward to this movie. :yess:
