Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

When they were heading out with Weyland, I can't remember the exact dialogue, but it prompted a knowing look from David to Shaw. It appeared from Shaw's reaction that she realised what David had done, but at the end she didn't seem to have any resentment towards him.

Yes, I think Shaw was suspicious of David because when they return to the ship with Weyland, David says it's fine to take off their helmets and Shaw is shocked because they still didn't know what had infected Holloway, it could have been in the air. David tells her matter of factly that it isn't the air and Shaw gives him a look, wondering how he could possibly know that.

I think she knew he had done something and was hesitant at the end to go back to the ship for David, until he mentioned there are other ships that he would be able to fly. In the end she needed him to get off that planet, so she didn't bring up what he'd done to Holloway.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Just got back from seeing it. MIND BLOWN. Absolutely loved it and very, very happy. Can't remember being this buzzed about a movie before. Story is excellent and the eye candy is incredible. See it in IMAX.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Does anyone else think that the SJs worshipped the Xenomorphs? -as evidenced by the giant Mural in the cannister room?

My take on it is that they are trying to create the perfect organism (the Xeno) and esentially 'stole the fire of the Gods' -the black goo- in an attempt to cultivate and eventually create what they see as perfection.
Obviously this all went pear shaped, which is what lead to all the SJs dying or going into quarantine on the planet for 2000 years...

I think the SJ the Nostromo finds in 'Alien' predates 'Prometheus' by quite a bit... hundreds of years maybe.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I thought it was great. But the trailers practically gave away the whole film. Not many surprises were left.

The Engineers looked amazing. Everything did actually, but damn they are so cool.

Can't wait for the sequel. :wink1:

Interesting theory, and makes sense in some cases. It seems that the Engeneers knew what the xenos were. Mabey thats why they created us?

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

One thing I don't really get was the beginning of the film. Why did the Engineer poison himself?

Highly agreed. Didn't they say it was fossilized? So it could be longer than that.

Seems to me that Xenomorphs and SJs go hand in hand. The Xenomorphs are no accident.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

That was a pretty fun scifi flick. The work by Weta in the effects stuff was amazing and the scenery was great. Story was pretty solid and it did feel like an alien film until the end. Which was cool with me not being a big fan of the franchise. It all worked into a fun experience.

The potion broke down his DNA so he could fall into the water and it would eventually disperse all around the earth and bring it life in the form of various creatures and such, especially us who got the most pure form of their DNA . (along thoes lines)

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

WOW..... this movie was awesome. My biggest fear going into it was ruining the first two films by answering to many questions and having nothing be a mystery any more. Even though some of the mystery is gone this deserves to be as every bit a part of the alien franchise as the first two films. It's not a classic like the first two are but it's every bit as enjoyable as those two.

If you can see it in Imax do it, the 3d is unbelievable and the sound shakes your seat. When the ship was landing in the beginning I felt like I was on LV 225 watching it land right in front of me. A crazy good film and my favorite this year so far.

A few pages back.......

That appears to be the scene where the Engineer kills himself to start the birth of the human race and in the movie he drank the liquid that killed him alone. It seems the original idea seen here was that another Engineer was helping him and looks to be wearing a mask and robe ( probably to add to the effect of the scenes ritualistic nature ).
The Jockey in the movie is actually wearing a robe which he takes off before drinking the liquid.

Oops , double post !.

That’s what I liked about it also. Too many prequels tend to answer every question and when you find out the answer I tend to fell like is that it? But with this film the questions it answered were just the right amount and seemed well thought out and the rest is still left to your imagination.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Just got back from this movie, and all I can say is wow.

Everything was just brilliant, the visuals, the characters, everything.

I'm not disagreeing with you hugely, however fossilization varies depending on conditions like atmosphere, pressure temperature. On LV-426 the planetary conditions could have resulted in a vastly increase in fossilization speed.

Also maybe the Space Jockeys fossilize genetically on death? (Who knows tbh :rotfl)

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Once the impact wears off, then the questions will start to plague your mind :D
