I may just bite the bullet and get one on eBay if its that great of a figure. I need a definitive, top of the heap 1/6th scale Vader.

Then maybe you should wait for a SS ESB or ROTJ Vader. The SS ANH has its own problems.

Not sure when, but SS will release them finally. Until then you can get the ANH Vader, but it is not the ultimate 1/6 Vader

What are its major concerns, or what does it lack to make it a truly great sculpt, figure et.? Lightsaber that lights up? Chest board? The proportions of the helmet?

It's the oversized body that most people bug... But if you but him with some figures around him like I did here it isn't that bugging... But that's mine opinion

Sideshow will release the other Vader versions, but it is too soon to release them right now, and on the other hand I doubt they will tell me (or you for that matter) when they release their stuff.

As for why the SS Vader is not accurate, just read this thread, if you want to buy a figure/collectible is better to research a bit on your own...

That's it? Heck, I like that he is mammoth. Anything else the disgruntled fan-boys are nit-picking about? Or, is there serious gripes otherwise?

Why is it too soon? What are you talking about? No one asked whether they would tell me personally, or you, about releases. Stuff like that kinda gets disseminated via toy news outlets and other avenues, so its not like we are looking for 'inside sources' or the general ASSumming that goes on on boards like these.

Just asking if they had announced any future versions, that would reincarnate his image from other movies. That's it.

Oh, as for re-reading this thread....Yeah, that's helpful considering the waves of pages where there is drivel that won't answer my question. How about you, or maybe even someone else giving their OWN opinions and general summary of what has been a major issue. Geez, its not that hard...

Q. With the Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, will you be making a Darth Vader Episode V 12-inch Figure soon? Maybe also for EP VI?

A. We do have plans for a new Darth Vader 12-inch figure, most likely an ROTJ version. Nothing is 100% concrete yet, but we’ll keep you in the loop.

That's about as difinitive an answer as you're going to get.

Awesome, I'd be very happy if ROTJ Vader was next, it won't stop me from getting an ESB eventually, but, ROTJ is the most wanted so I'd rather have him sooner, especially having Palpatine and his throne plus Jedi Luke, enough of these incomplete mini collections, ROTJ Vader and Ep1 Obi-Wan and we can have some complete duel displays.

It is great news! I was hoping for TESB Vader but heck I am not complaining. So it all depends of when the next Vader will be released? I'm guessing 3rd quarter 2011 and I wonder what will be the exclusive.

I could see Vader being an SDCC piece again, but then again, the surprise has passed now, in 2008 it was a big deal because we hadn't gotten Vader at all yet.

Good decision.
I think you should get the one that's available right now. IMO I think you should enjoy life in the present while you are still alive and in good health. By the time the new one comes out, the money you've spent on the first one would've been worth the couple of years of enjoyment. That's how I see it.

ps. Plus, modding it will be fun. You'll see.

Neither. Expect it to be a sculpt of the inevitable CG'd Hayden in the mask.

SS says the have "plans" and that "nothing is 100% concrete" so I wouldn't be expecting Vader for a few years.
