Looks like the forearms and lower legs are from the original SST body.

I would say they'd have to be in order to most easily attach the Sideshow boots and gloves, otherwise, probably some significany and maybe ineffective customization to further tweak the HT body to get the Sideshow pieces to attach.

Great work samueljd! Out of curiosity, what is the overall height of Vader now?

Can someone please post a couple pics of Vader's head without his helmet? I'm getting ready to paint a Vader I'm working on and would like to nail the 2 tone paint scheme. Thanks in advance.

My Vader measure about 13.75 inch. I'd say he's between a half inch to about less than an inch shorter. I used a Hot Toys Pred body with with Briareos forearms (it eliminates the monkey arms Vader had [I thought the gloves appear too low on the arm on the stock SS Vader] and they fit nicely without any loss of articulation). I modded the HT Pred knees to fit the Vader calves (the only way to fit Vader's unique boots). Also, I slightly widened the neck area of the torso to accommodate the Vader neck adapter (that was probably the easiest modification). the joint I'm happy with the end results, since Vader now looks beefier and has a normal torso and the height looks correct.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys! The planning took a lot of thought, but one I started modding him everything just seemed to naturally fall into place.

I finally finished customizing my Vader. I was held up months ago, because the custom body I was using had a broken knee. Here's some pics of what I did to fix it and how my Vader looks complete:

I'm very happy with how Vader's turned out now. He body looks fuller and thicker, the height is more appropriate, and he has much more articulation (not that Vader moves very dynamically, but it's nice to have the better ability to pose him).

that looks really good! did you make the replacement knee outta wood?! clever.

so how'd ya get the forearms and calves off the SS/HT bods? they don't have exposed screws. could you give a more detailed tutorial on modding the knees, forearms, and neck?
ah hell, i'll just send ya mine lol

I'll tell you want body was made for Darth vader, the Hot Toys T-800. That's what I've used for my Vader custom (made from mostly Sideshow parts) and I think he look's fantastic. Height (when you facotr in the sideshow vader boots) and build is nearly perfect.

David Prowse was in fact a body builder and was nearly the size Arnold was in T2 when he played Vader.

Here he is. I will have a lot more pix later when I restart my thread in the custom section. I love how heavy this sucker is on the T-800 body...

Nice work, but Dave Prowse, at 6'7". is quite a bit taller than Arnold(6'2"). Just thought it needed to be said(again)...PS

Dave Prowse is not 6'7" he's 6'5" and Arnold is only dreaming about being 6'2." Maybe if you add in the 3" pompadour he has, but the man is definitely not 6'2." :lol

That looks fantastic, if the SS Vader looked like that out of the box I'd snap him up tout de suite.

Well, Sideshow Vader is very good, but I'm 100% sure they made his head look so strange so that we'll have incentive to buy the their next Vader. I for one couldn't wait. :lol

Prowse is 6'5" NOW, after 2 hip replacements and several knee surgeries. At the time of filming his height was officially listed as 6'7". As for Arnold, I only know what I've read...PS
