Maybe the delay is a redesign to extend the chest flap over the crotch area like the original figure.

Bingo. The condition of that material after a year or two is my biggest concern. It might look nice in hand at first and then turn to crap after 8 months. My Anakin's roves started to fall apart last year, u was suprised they lasted that long.

Incidentally, why did they feel the need to specify that his clothes would be made of fabric? Do they always put that in the summary?

It doesn't matter if the end result is a pleather uniform I can always down the road make him a new uniform out of fabric or just cry as I watch him slowly die on my shelf. I will still be getting 2 crimson guard though.

Yes they do.

It doesn't matter if the end result is a pleather uniform I can always down the road make him a new uniform out of fabric or just cry as I watch him slowly die on my shelf. I will still be getting 2 crimson guard though.

Pleather is fabric.

Pleather is a coated fabric. When people say pleather or fabric they mean the coated or uncoated like the Cobra Officer. This pleather looks like a raincoat. It would look so much better in regular cloth, and it would be more archival.
