Just got back from Metreon IMAX and goddamn was this movie amazing. Better than IM and will go one my top 20, just gotta move some stuff around. lol

Best magic trick ever!!

I'm sorry, but I was laughin when not a lot of other people were. I guess I'm a little bit Joker. i.e., ^^^^ed in the head! lol

Napped after my midnight show post exhaustion run. Seeing it all again in about four hours. Will reprise any thoughts after of course, but a lot of the comments made here are pretty good ones.
I do keep replaying the pencil trick. His post, "Look, it's gone" part had me in stitches. I was sitting there, nervous, because every time Ledger was on screen, I was nervous. I had forgotten that part. When he walks in on those crooks, all angry and unified, and not impressed with him, I remember thinking, this is the Joker you fools. Dare not anger this one. A shark among barracuda. Not a good thing for these smart guys. Then, pencil and then, grenades. And his comebacks and put downs. Calling that guy, "TV" that was great too. There we were, not far into the movie, and with that one scene, you were set to be nervous of him. Then, that one with the first knife bit, Ah! Everyone reacted then. The broken pool cue? and the idea of what those three guys had to go through off camera...
Amazing work. I need time to take in what I saw. Seeing it again will help.

Did I miss something, or was Batman there, at Gordon's home, when his wife was informed and was she railing at him that it was his fault? I think I saw that...seems that way. He was in the shadows...all so fast....so many images I can't remember them all.

Anyway, amazing Batman movie. We needed one like this.
My buddy and I were sitting there, before the movie, and he says, "Watch this be Batman & Robin! Like, Sorry, we were just kidding! There is no Dark Knight! It's all a joke! Enjoy this 1997 movie instead!" We laughed. I am glad it was not B&R. I am glad those days are long gone!

Les I can tell you the film only gets better with multiple viewings. I've seen it twice and loved it just as much the second time around. Knowing what is coming is awesome because you can pay closer attention to things like the Magic Trick.

So glad I avoided spoilers! It made the film that much better not really knowing all the details. Utterly fantastic--my wife wanted to walk right back in and see it again!

Why can't all movies be this good?

Yup. I avoided spoilers like the plague and I think the experience was more enjoyable for it (and I am usually a spoiler whore).

Saw it, dug it.

Ledger's performance lived up to the hype. He completely owns every scene he's in every second he's in it. Eckhart did a good job with Two Face, but in the shadow of the Joker, he was kinda just there. .

I did think it was too long. I understand it had to be to accomodate two villains, but after Joker's big attack on the police caravan was over it felt like another mini-movie kicked in after that. It very much reminded me of Casino Royale in that respect. It didn't help that the whole boat thing fell a bit flat because you knew exactly how that was going to play out, and it did so right to the letter.

While I think TDK was techincally a better film than Begins, I had a bit more fun with Begins despite that goofy microwave plot. Still, TDK was very satisfying which is a tall order for a film with such hype surrounding it.

I personally liked when Joker took the time to clean his hands after he left the hospital room. :lol

yes
That and the part with him trying to get the rest of the explosives to go off were both great.
and yes...the entire hospital scene stands out as my favorite part of the movie.
~~i still think the best scene is the intro with the magic trick.

I just LOVED the ending, though. It was very moving. Gordon's speech, that last shot of Bats, then the title appears. Ahhh, good stuff!!

That and the part with him trying to get the rest of the explosives to go off were both great.

Totally improvised, might I add. There was actually a delay with the explosives, but they kept rolling. Ledger held his own really well. I would have probably broken character and been like "uhh, guys, wtf is going on?"

Yeah, that's why he jumps when the next one goes off. I was laughin' and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy like him!

And him in the nurse's outfit was ^^^^ing hilarious!! Laughed so hard!

I think he knew what he was doing--with all the explosives that were going off, they couldn't reset and do a second take any time soon. He was going to stay in character until he heard "cut." He was a pro.

Well, of course. There was definitely not going to be a second take. It was still funny, in some strange, demented sort of way.

If it wasn't planned it just shows how accidents and surprises can end up making things even better than what was planned. I don't think I've ever been so entertained by watching someone walk away from an exploding building.

I also enjoyed the shot of Joker in the back of the cop car, hanging out the window, especially with that ominous music in the background.

Wow... Just goes to show what kind of actor Heath was. That scene was pure magic, one of the best in the film. He pulled a "Raider's swordsman" and gave us another great improvised scene. :rock

I just got back from my second viewing, still just so blown away by this movie. It was just too badass for words.

My Wife thought they didn't do enough with Rachel's death for her taste, but she did love the movie. Especially Joker.

She oddly thought that the Watchmen trailer had too much going on with it. I had to school her on the way home about the story and why it had so many characters and such... pretty hilarious.
