That's because in T3 he tells Kate that he kills John Connor so she reprogrammed him to go back and protect them from the TX.
This is why Marcus gives his human heart to dying John at the end and why the title is Salvation because it's Marcus' atonement for the sins of his past life.

In the first picture, the comment is that it's the Arnie T-800's arm seen just highlighted by a spotlight behind Marcus, in the red background.
I have seen a screen cap somewhere, where John Conner is cut up quite bad on the face while Kyle helps him walk/escape. To me this cut looks the same shape as the scar adult John Connor has in T2 in 2029. If I am correct, then this future is not to different from what is meant to be for him to aquire the same facial scaring.

Yeah agreed, I saw the picture as well. I also watched T2 last night, and one thing I completely forgot about was the ongoing theme of changing the future. Also, Reese mentions alternate universes in the original as well. Hopefully they do something interesting with this theme in the new one and don't just keep it lingering in the background.
in the first shot, the arnie arm in the back is a second t-800m101 being grown. the first one is chasing connor and reese at that point. the sceond shot is after the 101 rips a 600 in half to get to connor. i don't remember if the 101 using the minigun was left in the final cut i just saw the damn movie and forgot. if he did he didn't get a shot off because he took a 40mm grenade to the chest right after he tore up the 600

So have any screen caps of the 'Arnold' that appears in the movie shown up online?
just the one's 20 pages back as far as i know..the scene is really short anyways before he loses the skin. it still looks better than the animatronic one in t2 when he's wounding the swat team at cyberdyne. c'mon rolling an upper torso on a dolly down a hall. the couldn't rig a way to make it look like he was taking steps.
