Well DouglasMcc - You make some great points. The pose does look off to me also. As does the mask. However I look at photos like this

And I cream in my Jeans.

I don't know I will have to sleep on it.

Thanks

I really do not like that pose at that angle. Vader holding his saber out to the side like that just doesn't feel right. Now if Sideshow had just put left/right articulation into this piece so I could turn his head, all of my complaints about the pose would disappear. The only way I could stand to pose him was from the side. It all comes down to your feelings, though. If like you like it (and more importantly can afford it),
go for it. However, keep in mind that there will be another PF... no way they won't milk that well with the research/design they already had to put into the first version.

And that picture also brought up another bad point I had forgotten:
I never really like the placement of the cod-piece on Vader. Every picture I have seen of that costume has the piece.. can't believe I am going to say this, but can't think of another way.. craddling his private regions all the way down. The Sideshow version looks more like an armor "strap on" (couldn't resist the pun) than the cod-piece he wore in the movie.

Other people complained about the strapped on nature of his boots (the upper portion is a strap-on guard similar to a catchers' shin guards in basball, as opposed to high boots. However, Sideshow claims this was the original design, and I tend to believe them... plus its not that obvious with the cape on.

If you get a PF Vader that would mean that there will be one less Vader in my PF Vader army. I intend to get one for every step in my two story house with basement plus front and back deck.

1. awful pose
2. crappy clothes (f.e. cape)
3. will look like a side character besides BOBA :D

:monkey5

...because you want to save your $$$ for the SS Troopers :D ...well, i know I am.

Like the post says. Why should I not get the PF Vader.

I am looking to get this but I am not 100% sure. I know all the reasons why to get it. Does anyone here know why I should not.

The only reason I can think of is if you already have one. Otherwise, you definitely need to scratch, beg, plead, or rob a bank to get one :rotfl

Agreed....

Price and Patience. the 1/6 scale line is amazing and far more affordable. Certainly they will do vader some day and hewill be awesome. Lack of patience leads to the dark side.

I'll give you a few reasons why you shouldn't get the PF Vader:

1) If you don't want to own the definitive Vader on the market, and...

2) ...owning the ultimate representation of the character in statue
form isn't important to you;

3) You don't want to be in awe everytime you walk into your collection room
and see this piece;

4) Having the absolute best, at a reasonable price, just doesn't do it for you.

By not getting it for those reasons, you can save yourself from having a true high-end collection like these:

You convinced me of 2 things Mini-Rock: 1.) Damn, I should have gone to school to be something other than a teacher... money rules :rotfl . 2.) The Luke, Han, and Leia look amazing together.Sorry to disagree Mini-Rock, but while those collections/rooms look amazing, the PF Vader looks akward in everyone (and how that one person could pose Vader and Obi not dueling... I just do not understand). I know its only my opinion, and isn't more important than anyone elses. However, the Vader just doesn't look right.. okay, I am done parroting :D

P.S., its also not fair to showcase those pictures. Those collectors obviously have enough money to afford these things. Heck, the cases/ protective covers in those pics probably cost more than I spent on collectibles in the last year (if not 2). Now, I am not hating on them.. I am envious.. and I can't fault someone for making money. However, honestly, would this poster have created the topic if he had money to spend like that? No, he would have just bought it. I know I would have a room like that with Code 3 and such out the ying-yang if I could afford it. But I can't so I find ways to amuse myself with what I can afford. Life is a game of subjective perspective. Learn to enjoy your own perspective... or never be happy. At least that's how I see it.

Well said Mini.

Just get it JAWS! It's a nice piece.

My only complaints of PF Vader were the cape and the "purple" lights.

I had the cape altered, as it is was far too big, and painted the lights red so I am happy now.

If there is another PF Vader made, it will be YEARS away. You cannot own other PF pieces without owning Vader. That's just wrong. :)

Yeah, you gotta get Vader! It's my personal favorite. A must have if you're going to collect the SW PF line.

I have to reinforce the opinion too that just because you would have Vader doesn't necessarily mean you have to have Ben to go with it. I do have both and love Ben on his own merits, but I did try them posed together and honestly didn't like them that way. Even though that is a dramatic recreation of the film, you lose the ability to view much of the detail of each piece.

I am much more satisfied with them displayed separately.

Right... that's why it took them less than 12 months to make another Luke. Sorry Gruson, on this topic, you are wrong. We will see another Vader in less than 2 years. It will probably be a saber at his side version to emphasis the difference between the two - and I will greatly prefer that one to be honest. If you like this Vader, get it. However, do not base your decision on A.)the silly notion that you can't own one without the other - that's the completist and its just not like most people think, and B.) you will have to wait long for another one... just look at precedent.

none other than you have the urge to buy others.....

seriously, i love the vader. i bought him because i got obi wan and decided i needed a companion for him. but he looks great buy himself, especially if you have one of the MR lightsabers to display with him. i think it comes down to your preferences. if you want the lightsaber blade that sort of lights up than get him... if not then wait because im sure we will get another version... im hoping from ROTJ to pose with a PF Jedi luke

I hear ya Gru! Regarding another Vader, that definitely is a BIG "IF." Personally, I think the only other Vader we'll see in the PF line is Vader before the suit. Either way, that is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy down the line.

Ox, yeah, I display both separately too. It's such a strong commanding piece on its own that it doesn't need Ben to face off with; although, faced off with Ben looks cool as hell too.

Anyway, like Gru said, "Just get it JAWS!" Although, you can apply that to any of the SW PF's. All are the best representations of the characters released to date in statue form. :chew

I will decide by the end of the night tonight.

I want to thank everyone for their opinions and photos. I don't have a ton of money but I sold a ton of stuff on ebay.

I am getting the
PF JASON
Sauron
Balrog - Second version
JAWS
Soto Pumkinhead

I have enough for one more figure. Thats why I am looking at Vader. I want something that represents Star Wars for my room. Vader is the man but he has quite the price. Sideshows seems to be the best out there and I do really like him but some photos have scared me, ie.. the pose, the helmet looks off somehow. After this I plan on saving for the SS Boba Fett. Can anyone point to a good place for pre-ordering those.

Anyways thanks again. And if not Vader then who??????? Don't forget I am probably going to pre order Fett.

Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!

From one JAWS fan to another...
There will certainly be a 12" scale Vader or Vaders that will be just as nice. You'll be able to pick out your favorite.
Unless you want to spend that kind of green of course. Your call.

Sorry, not a big PF collector. Too damn big for me! Nice though, just too big. They eat space! I am still working on just where my PF JAWS shark is going....but, he's exempt from my nonPF collecting rule! :D

If your getting Sauron and you end up getting a Vader be carefull not to put them in the same cabinet together (see pics)........ They don't seem to get along too well, I had to seperated them when I got obi
