OK Somebody give me a good reason not to buy PF Vader

I say this as a friendly bet.. not trying to be an a$$ or anything. If this thread is around (not sure how long they keep these on server) in 12 to 16 months when they announce the next PF Vader, I am going to have to come back here and do the "I told you so."

I am sorry... saying another PF Vader is a big "If" is just silly. They have already invested a crap load of money into designed the suit and helmet for a premium format Vader. With minimal rework, they will have a brand new piece. Now, I agree they will design it so that its different. Heck, I would love a seated version in the meditation throne, or a marching version. However, it will be made outside of a natural disaster destroying the SST facility. And it will be made sooner rather than later (well in terms of years, not months).

If your getting Sauron and you end up getting a Vader be carefull not to put them in the same cabinet together (see pics)........ They don't seem to get along too well, I had to seperated them when I got obi

THe pics. I'm not a fan of this PF Vader, but I even I can tell that that is just not right.

Right... that's why it took them less than 12 months to make another Luke. Sorry Gruson, on this topic, you are wrong. We will see another Vader in less than 2 years. It will probably be a saber at his side version to emphasis the difference between the two - and I will greatly prefer that one to be honest. If you like this Vader, get it. However, do not base your decision on A.)the silly notion that you can't own one without the other - that's the completist and its just not like most people think, and B.) you will have to wait long for another one... just look at precedent.

Sorry, not a big PF collector. Too damn big for me! Nice though, just too big. They eat space! I am still working on just where my PF JAWS shark is going....but, he's exempt from my nonPF collecting rule!

I am going with bigger statues actually to give myself more room. I am getting rid of my smaller stuff to get the larger more high quality stuff. Just a few things in the room to really show off. Thats why I think I am going for the Vader. I need that one Star Wars thing.

Glad to see a fellow JAWS fan here. I was going to say hello in the introduction forum but failed to do so.

Can't wait for the PF JAWS. This will actually be the hardest thing to find a place for in my room. But there will be a place!!!!!!

What I meant by precedent:

Sideshow has made/announced 8 PF figures over the last 12 months (leading us into the first of next year with Boba). Of those, we have had 2 Lukes out of the first 8 (or 3 of 9 if you count the con exclusive). Luke and Vader are the central characters to our little galaxy of fun. Do you really find it that hard to believe that another Vader will be missing from the next 8 announced? I am willing to bet we get a new Vader in that next 8 and then a Jedi Luke early in 2008. Could I be wrong?

Of course, I am not a psychic. However, Sideshow trends, both in other lines, and the Star Wars line tend to point towards another Vader really soon.

P.S. There are 2 factors that could hurt this prediction: 1.) If Sideshow slows down and only produces 3 or 4 a year. However, other than poor Han, people are buying these up like candy... why should they stop? and 2.) If Sideshow starts focusing on PT characters. This is a possibility... but then we would still see another Vader.. just a ROTS version.. which I do not want or need. Also, I believe they realize outside of the cool factor of Grevious, most PF fans are OT centric.

They aren't gonna do another PF Vader anytime soon. The still go so many other characters to do first before they come back around to Vader. The reason they did the Dagobah Luke I believe was more to get Yoda in more than do another Luke. I'm not saying they won't do another Vader at somepoint but I do believe it won't be till we have several more characters.

Nah, I sold mine about 3 weeks back to a member of another forum for 285 plus shipping. I only lost 50 bucks on the purchase, so I consider it like renting it for 10 bucks a month. All this talk got me curious about what these were going for. I did a search and bam! I saw a Jawsfan2000 bidding on one. While there was no guarrantee it was you... let's just say I used my oracle skills to divine that the chances of 2 Jaws fans looking for Vader on the same night were slim...

As for Mini-Rock... we shall see my Padawan... we shall see..

I'm surprised people seem to dislike the Vader pose so much, I mean a different pose would probably look better for the figure to be alone, but after I got Vader and Obi I had them facing off for a couple days before I decided that it took away from each figure having them displayed sideways. I much prefer them facing forward.

I agree Jlc. However, they are doing/announcing 7 to 8 a 12 month period. If you consider Luke/Yoda the last of 2006, and Boba the first of 2007, that leaves 6 to 7 more announcements for 2007 year. I guess they could slow down.. which would negate my prediction. However, with the rate of sales on these things, I don't see that happening. I also don't see them going to the PT well too much for 2007. Okay, here are my predictions for announcements for 2007 (don't have to release that year, just be announced):

ESB Lando
ESB Han (either Hoth or Bespin... they want to do another to appease those people who didn't like the ANH sculpt)
ESB Stormtrooper (or ANH Stormie with either Han or Luke exchangable head as exclusive)
*PT Figure (my guess would be a ROTS Obi-Wan.. or possibly a ROTS Anakin
*PT Figure (not sure... but I can see them doing 2 PT back to back)
ROTJ Emperor
ROTJ Darth Vader

*Not so sure about PT ... that's definitely a big guess. On the one hand, they seem to be doing a chronological movie order. However, I could see them breaking it up for a PT or 2. It would be cool to see an ESB Chewie in place of those PT however... with Golden Rod riding his back...

So, maybe Vader slips into second quarter 2008. But that's about as far as he slides ... if I am wrong, so be it. But I bet I am close...
