I'm happy about that for sure, but if people were wanting the top of your mountain, wouldn't you come prepared to defend it?

That is a little odd... maybe he just stopped caring? He holds the record for most golds, so he's probably assuming it'll be a while until someone else comes close to beating it.

It could simply be it just wasn't his day. I'm sure he tried the best he could. ____ happens. We'll have to wait and see how he does in all of them to really judge.

I'm enjoying it so far. Fast forwarding through alot though. I wish Dish would show it in 4hr blocks rather than 12hr. Makes it hard to watch.

GO USA!!!!

What's with the French announcements before English? Is that an Olympic Committee requirement?

Yep. French, English then host country language.

Overall I thought the Opening Ceremonies were fine. Seemed just as good / bad as all of them are. The torch lighting was kind of neat though.

I always like to watch the sports I never care about the rest of the year. I watched archery and mens gymnastics yesterday and it was nice to see Phelps lose last night... I'm kind of sick of him.

Uhm, spoiler tags? Really?

If you don't know the results of events then maybe you shouldn't be in this thread (not the world's fault that NBC chooses to show what they want to show and miss other things).

But just for fun...

Enjoy some French Fries with the 4 x 100 men's relay.

Yeah, we finally got a bronze. :angrycanu

Darth, that was because we were talking about it before they showed the actual event here in the states.

I love the Olympics myself. I love sports... and love that the entire world gets together. It's so much fun. Plus, I love all the ladies in the skin baring outfits.... mmmmm Beach Volleyball. Swimming...

You fools can't understand French??? Losers!:lol

By the way, the Croatia's #9 on their basketball team is pretty hot.:D

lets be honest, the only other thing france is good at is being invaded. Thats why they can swim; use to swimming to England!

Only french we need to understand is Oui. Which is the answer to 'do you need rescuing again?'

;)

I know-- and that's my point. It's already happened.

I understand that NBC wants to show the main events during prime time but they've already happened (tape delay) and other nations have been shown the events.

If you don't want to know then don't pop in-- spoiler tags are a bit excessive for live sporting events.

It's not live here :dunno

I know-- but the rest of us aren't forced to just watch NBC's coverage... I've got CTV, TSN, TSN2, SPORTSNET, OLN... No spoiler tags. Things have happened in real time. If you don't want things spoiled (if it's a live event that's happening in a time zone that's 4+ hours ahead) then STAY OFF THE INTERNET.

:wink1:

Lots of fun watching the events with my girls as they're just the right age to be excited by EVERYTHIING (4 & 6). My son at 6 months seems quite nonplussed.
