I've heard no buzz, the first one had a lot of buzz and still flopped if I remember correctly.

Buzz is actually kinda irrelevant. Bayformers never had a big marketing campaigns.
First one wasn't huge because it didn't have nearly enough action and couldn't compensate that with at least somewhat solid story and servisable characters. Now it looks like they went all in with the action plus everything is in day light, which gonna help a lot (not me, of course - I'll wait for the home video torrents).

I member bein' excited for the first bayformers. the trailer caught me off guard when it was in front of Pirates 2.

This looks OK, but I wasn't even that interested in the first. I might give it a rental though. Is Ron Pearlman in this at all?

I think his character was offensive to Chinese people or something like that.
Otherwise there's no reason for the lack of him in this. Unless it's a surprise cameo, of course.

Eh I don't get all the hate . Just saw the first one because I'm not really into the robot vs monsters things but found it to be pretty fun, and super exciting in 3d. This looks more of the same but in day time , which I can't complain about.
