This stoic look of concern represents the absolute best of Scott Eastwood's acting in this film.

The mech fights are unquestionably mech. I think they just took it in a more anime direction than the first movie. I caught Gundam, Patlabor and Evangelion vibes from a lot of the action.

so obvious that the Jaegers were inspired by Shining Gundam

Which is fine and cool on its own but as a sequel to a slumbering giant mech movie it just doesn’t flow smoothly.

It should’ve been a new IP.

But that’s not the only problem.

The plot is a freaking mess lol

If you go see this you will find certain elements that will give you a big happy grin on your face during some of the battles but that plot hurt.

You just know GDT things this movie is a POS lol

He's too busy working on Shape of Water 2 Electric Boogaloo to notice this film

Father creates lasting characters.

Son in PR2 lol

Those costumes are a true embarrassment I mean Godzilla Final Wars had better costumes.

Eastwood jr doesn't even have a good voice. Even that is bland

I have no doubt. I'm guessing Gundam in general was probably the biggest inspiration for most of the Mech stuff in this. Considering one of the Jaegers crashes next to a giant Gundam statue... "I clapped cause I knew what that was!" :lol

Then everyone would be saying "this new IP should have just been Pacific Rim 2"...ya can't win :lol but I agree. This felt like a new IP anyway.

I wonder how well this will do when it opens in Japan/China. If it doesn't succeed there, this series might be done...or doomed to be a CGI anime on netflix :horror

The movie is imploding in China, it's headed for a decrease from the first film. It's also performing about 25% worse than the first film in Australia and the U.K...the apocalypse is back on.

It opened 20 million higher in China than the 1st and did good in other international markets but I guess that took a turn for the worst rather quickly lol

See you later PR franchise it was nice knowing you, Kaiju fans can’t ever have anything nice lol

It didnt have to be a new ip but gypsy should have never been remade.

It should have been a brand new team in a brand new facility with brand new styles of jaeger.

The jaegers should have been designed differently, maybe more organic, slimmer, an upgrade,

They ACTUALLY did make the new non pilot jaegers more slick and more organic looking. The ones that attack at the end.

Their mistake was making jaegers that looked like the old ones.

Looked but not behaved.

If you make it that different, then the complaint that it should've been a new IP would have been even louder.

As a side note....I thought it was funny they didn't mention Charlie Hunnam once! (At least I didn't catch it) He was actually the one to save the world, but no mention :lol Poor guy

The new non pilot jaegers actually had joints and moved better. They were believable because they felt more organic. Their limbs werent as robotic and square looking.

The regular jaegers looked ridiculous next to those new jaegers

Things get upgraded.
They could have said the old jaegers were too dangerous and toxic.

People dont always hate new upgrades if the story makes sense.
Theres been bunch of times when movies upgrade tech. Or vehicles.

I dont think that would have been a big complaint. This movie crap the bed with that stupid plot and with boyega being so thick he couldnt fit in the old suits

I could use star wars as a reference for this kind of "ya can't win" scenario...but I don't want to start TLJ references in here :lol

That immediately soured the movie for me.

I liked his relationship with Mako and Heimdel.

In an inerview, Boyega said he Raleigh was dead.

In a separate interview, the director said there was a version of the script that involved a reference to Raleigh, but they left it out because they didn't want to write themselves into a corner. So they could bring him back later or whatever.

Maybe Boyega will go on a quest and find him old and grizzled on an island, milking kajiu teets :panic:

**** was that a TLJ reference...

I think the biggest discrepancy with the weighted feel of this movie from the first is the thought process behind each moving part on the Jaegers in the first film. You can tell a lot of attention was given to each piston movement...or gear...or exhaust port... on Gipsy Danger even when it's just standing up. Add to that all of the ancillary sound design and it really built up the jaegers personality. In Uprising, everything is just a bit to smooth of a transition. I get it's 10 years later and it's advanced tech yadda yadda, but that was a huge part that made the first films Jaegers feel tangible.

Compare the clip you posted to this clip from the first.

Guillermo was the visual consultant/producer on the film...or so said the movie credits..I wonder how much input he actually had. I know he wanted to do Jaeger Kaiju hybrids, so I wonder how much of him made it into this film, because there's definitely a disconnect.

That's actually a really great toy...but it's the only figure I have or will be getting from this movie...all the rest are meh.

Maybe I'll get the kaiju..who knows...who cares :lol

:lol :lol :lol

Just don’t let TOHO near it lol
