Me too. Would he want people ogling his suffering?

thats exactly how I view it.
"Jesus loved us all as his own children"

What parent would want their children to relive their torture and death?
Wasnt the whole point of going thru it, to keep His "children" from having to experience it at all in the first place?

I liked the movie... it was a bit over-the-top (ripping a chunk of rib out? come on.) But I would have no interest in a figure representation.

That's Italian for, "We hate your wife." :lol (which really isn't that funny at all)

Try and bribe her with Michael Buble tickets. :dunno

I just chalk it up to being the first of her sons to marry. It requires a feeling out process when traditions that have been in place for years are suddenly being combined with things that are new, different and nontraditional. I think it's safe to say that most people go through some growing pains when marrying and attempting to mesh the ways of two different families.

Well good for you.... Maybe that also comes from being Irish and not Italian?
Actually, my Mom's French/Italian/Portuguese. Dad's the 100% Irish one. But still...

My point is this, guilt is a nasty weapon that can be used to influence ones decision making process. I've grown to dislike it, personally.
I agree with you 100%. In fact, I lost the most amazing relationship I ever had because her mother (Italian Catholic from New England) was like that and browbeat her into feeling guilty about dating a guy 13 years older who was divorced. Sucks.

Well, you could always move your wife in with them, though that kinda defeats the whole reason you got married. :lol

My mom was the same way. I got the riot act when I even made plans to do something with my wife for mother's day to show appreciation for the kids she bore. I don't talk to her husband anymore so now I just reflect the guilt back to her.

I think Jesus would wonder why he was being played by a white guy.

Yeah, there is that too.

Although I think the casting was a lot closer than some of the Jesus art that is out there.

I wasn't trying to be snippy (did I just use the word snippy?) with my "good for you" comment, so my apologies if it came off that way. My mom is really a pretty cool lady as well but the use of guilt for the sake of manipulation does bother me.

That sucks, man.... It takes a lot to break away from the preconceptions that a persons parents might have about life and how their children should live. My wife's family has always supported her choices 100% while my family.... well, they love me, but the support falls more in line with what they feel is right for me.... At some point I either had to make my own choices or live under the umbrella of their approval..... so I've been pissing them off since I was about 14. :lol

Well said.

When you think about it, almost all of Christendom uses the impliment of Christ's torture as an emblem of worship. The crosses with the dying Christ on it are at a higher level, but this movie really takes it to an extreme.

(BTW, I haven't actually seen the movie. Just read reviews and seen clips/ still shots.)

I don't want a Valfar Jesus. :(

Shields up. Go to red alert. The Hindus, Muslims, and Atheists will be here shortly.

I'm an atheist and I was here first. :lecture

I liked it too.

Instead of a Jewish guy?

Jesus was an homosexual.

Talk about the ultimate in Catholic guilt, huh? Not that he was Catholic.

See it.

If Hot Toys made a Jesus figure, I'm sure it would be their greatest all-time seller. DX version could have googly eyes and fancy light-up cross stand.

Seriously though, they need the Big Lebowski license.
