I didn't realize AMD was in such dire straits. I have an ATI GC and I'm very satisfied with it.
They have lost the Proc battle for years though.

Okay, I have dual 580s. I just went for it but didn't get my power supply. So my box is running on max load. :lol

So yeah, a new PSU is in order. And yes, the setup is noisy but I'm happy with the performance. :D

Yeah, in some cases like that, it might work for now but it could end up having problems eventually if the PSU can't handle the power. I had a system that didn't quite have enough power, worked fine for a while but eventually got problems when the PSU just couldn't take it anymore.

Agreed.

You should get a new PSU ASAP. You could ruin your entire rig

Yeah. I will. God forbid something bad happens.

It didn't ruin anything, but something might stop working until the computer is restarted or the computer would restart by itself, I'm guessing because it wasn't able to provide enough power.

Anyone have any recommendations on SSD drives in the 258 GB range?

Looks like the Samsung 840 Pros are good but a little more expensive.

The other Samsung 840 250GB is cheaper and should also look at Crucial M4, maybe Intel.

You won't see much performance difference between them unless you do benchmarks but I'd just recommend to stay away from OCZ, always hear about those failing.

I use the 840 Pro 256 GB...it's awesome....I love it.

Went with Samsung because of their proven dependability. Intel and Crucial are good choices too from what I've read though. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those 3.

How much did you get it for? I am thinking about just waiting and watching for a good sale. I think I am nuking my hard drive this weekend and reloading Windows 7 and all my programs anyway.

Something wrong with the windows 7 you have?

If not, then just make an image and then dump the image on your SSD.

Got myself a Vaio S series laptop. Thing was the most expensive laptop or computer I've ever purchased, but it's so damn amazing. I was surprised to see that is one mean pc gaming machine, I can run BioShock Infinite on Ultra settings at 1080p with some frame rate dips. On Very High, the game is smooth and looks beautiful. This is the first time I've ever ventured into PC gaming, and I can totally tell the difference right away.

The coolest thing about the laptop is the speed. The speed that I get from the SSD is amazing. Literally takes 5 seconds for my laptop to boot up and even quicker to shut down.

I'm all about high performance laptops.
I do editing, vfx work and color grading so mobility and power is exactly what I need. I have a Dell precision m6700. It is a beast! It has a 4gb nvidia quadro k4000m gpu which is specifically designed for pro applications. That doesn't stop me from playing battlefield 3 with everything on ultra! It's so smooth and looks incredible. What is your battery life like on the Sony? Also which ssd does it have?

It just has a lot of crap installed on it that doesn't need to be on there. I want a clean, fresh install since I just installed a new CPU and brand of motherboard to get it running smooth and fast as I can get it.

I don't have an SSD yet but that is the plan to clone the fresh install to one if I get one soon.

I'm reaching the point when I'll need a clean format too. And take that opportunity to finally drop Vista and get 7.
