That's dope.

The refresh rate on my TV is capped at 60Hz.
Sometimes, with dragon age; inquisition turning off VSYNC can help the frame rate but it tears like crazy.

Lastly, what card do you have (was it a GTX 980)?

So your gpu is outputting more framerates than the monitor can handle so yeah gotta use vsync or go freesync/gsync monitor.

I have 2 980 Kingpins (I need to sell at some point) but got two 980 ti Hybrids now.

Now that's an upgrade! I'm wondering if I should upgrade to newer GPUs this year, or wait until Nvidia's lineup of Pascal comes out next year.

I really just wanted closed loop water cooled so that's why I did it. I notice a difference especially going from 4 gb to 6 gb in some games but the two 980 kingpins were great too and could really max out what I played too. Couldn't use a closed loop water cooler on the non-reference card like KP though so figured I'd change the cards.

Now my cards idle at 26 degrees and max I've seen so far (2560x1440 at 120 hz) is 45. In COD:AW they don't go above 38 degrees so I'm very happy with them.

Wow, those are some beautiful temperatures!

Mentioning cooling, my hottest GPU was running at 87 degrees last night on Witcher 3, and my room literally turned into an oven.

I have a lot of 140mm fans, but air cooling only does so much. I should probably just build a new PC by the time I'm ready to upgrade my GPUs. I really want to try my hands at custom water cooling one of these days.

Probably a year out for Pascal I would guess....maybe a little less...or more...if you can wait I would.

Nvidia's next-gen Pascal GPU will offer 10x the performance of Titan X, 8-way SLI | PCWorld

Man, that's crazy. I wonder if they're still using 28 nm transistors.

getting my PC within a week now :)

the last thing i did was add an internal DVD writer for cheap for my order "30$" .. i don't need a Blu-ray writer do i? as most PC games i've seen are on DVD

Yeah, I've never come across a PC game with Blu disk. It's best to download and install your games digitally, though. Games are huge now, and DVD installations takes forever.

I used to think PC gamers were the most mature - at least way more mature than console gamers... and then, I found the Steam forums.

how does Patches work when i install a game disc in the driver? does Patches get's downloaded Automatically after installation "like i install a game on the PS4 and automatically downloads the patch" .. or do i need to set up a steam account first ? how does it work exactly when i use a game disc?

Now a days you have to take that disc and activate it on Steam (it'll come with a code) or Origin if it's an EA game so you'd activate through those programs and then yep it will work like the PS4 where if there's an update/patch it will automatically do it once you open those programs.

Basically using the disc will let you download from DVD rather than downloading the game via the internet but to play it you would still need one of those programs.

PC gamer here! Used to play WoW like a boss . Have been playing Skyrim I love PC over consoles. Unless it's Super Nintendo / NES [emoji38][emoji38]

Thanks for the Reply Vader :) seems simple enough, i havn't opened any of my PC games yet

have one last question

i noticed the Witcher 3 Reccomended Settings of 8GB of RAM and my PC gonna have 8GB .. am i gonna have some trouble running this game?

BS, running with a GTX980 and an i7 4790k if it matters

Guys, just wondering ...

If I were to get a bigger SSD, what would be the best method to copy all the programs / games from the smaller SSD to the bigger SSD?
Essentially, I don't want to uninstall and reinstall games and programs.
I was thinking about cloning the drive altogether with ACRONIS or some other program like that.
What do you guys think?

Thanks!

You should be fine, the thing that would matter more is the GPU memory

If you have steam, you can just copy the steam folder where the games are installed, and then paste to the new install location. As for other stuff, usually it will break the program if you move the installation, if you're just moving the program folder it might not work correctly due to how the program will be set up in the registry. If you are reinstalling Windows then it would be missing all of the program registry stuff altogether.

I was thinking about cloning the drive. Will it break?
Will the clone drive inherent all of the attributes from the original, such that the OS and registry will not know the difference?

Wow, steam is cool.
But a lot of my stuff is from origin.

here is my setup :) pics taken from the shop, i will get my PC Today

If it ends up with the same drive number and the folder structure hasn't changed then I think it would work
