Never played the game so I can't comment on that part, but $800 for a whole computer capable of high settings seems unlikely. Man, you can blow that much on a high end GPU & a PSU to power it out of the gate.

Yeah, I figured as much. It's just that the whole "PC gaming is much cheaper than console gaming" seems like a tall tale to me. I mean, sure, if you want quality of course you're gonna go with a custom-built PC, but if you have a budget, I'm not sure that's your best choice. As someone who just wants to play for a while and doesn't really care for 4k Ultra HD and Mods, it seems I made a mistake. Eh, at least it's useful for the various editting programs.

^ That graphics card is a joke, so it does sound that you paid too much. What kind of motherboard did he install? Power source? Was it a fancy case? There's more components you are not mentioning, so hard to say.

Building a PC, or installing components isn't hard really, all you have to do is watch tutorials on YouTube and all over the net. That's what I did and I'm now more familiar with the process. Installing a new graphics card is like installing RAM. It is that easy.

I'm waiting on Amazon or anyone really to ghettoes damn GTX 1080 in stock. EVGA sent me an email saying they have them and once you check out you get an error message. Poor website can't handle ****.

I'll just wait on Amazon, which sucks because I'm graphic card less at the moment.

Been playing some PS4 for the time being. And let me tell you, what a DOWNGRADE it is IMO.

I've been doing that.

I know all the cards are essentially the same (founders) but I've been told that it's always better To go with EVGA. Is there an actual reason for this? I've seen plenty of PNY's and ASUS's in stock but I'm holding for the EVGA version.

Am I a tool?

It's because of their customer service and warranty if anything goes wrong. From what I've read at the EVGA forums getting a replacement or talking to them is super easy, much like Sideshow use to be. I've used them for my last 3 sets of cards but haven't had any issues out of the cards but for other things I called about they answered right away and helped me more than I'm use to from companies.

Love the case that I have but this one I really love:

Not only the look but built in fan control in the case and you can oc'd your gpu with the case and Precision X but most of all and one thing I've wished someone would do is put something on the back that covers all the cables coming out of the back of the pc adn redirects them towards the back of the pc case which this one did.

I prefer EVGA, but the only brand I would actively avoid is Zotac--they might be OK, but I get the impression that they're not that great.

That case looks awesome, I wish the GTX 1080 came with one of those hardware addons so you can put the HDMI on the front of the case for VR, like the 980Ti VR edition.

Keep in mind, that a console might be "cheap" initially at $399. But, you'll have to factor in the cost of monthly subscription fees to play online, and you'll also be spending around $60 for each of your games if you buy them new. In comparison, you don't have to pay an online subscription fee to play on PC (aside from your Internet bill), and games are constantly on sale for cheap.

Just received my Geforce GTX 1080 Founders Edition. My friend and I built a new gaming pc earlier this week and I've been temporarily been using his 980. Think his old card is on the way out as there are feint lines across the monitor. All will be revealed this afternoon I guess.

Got my GTX 1080 and been doing some utterly insane maxed out gaming today. Did a bit of Rise Of The Tomb Rider and I'm in awe. Makes Uncharted on PS4 look like kids play. I wonder how amazing it would look if Sony would allow it one day.

Oh well, I'm going to do some Arkham Knight on Game + and see how this baby handles it.

I have an ultra wide IPS Gaming 34" monitor that's 2560x1440. Once you go wide, you can't go back.

I actually want to sell it and the new ASUS predator 4K Nvidia G-Sync.

I head that. i use the 21:9, 3440x1440 and gonna be hard to go back to 16:9 one day if I get 4k.

I agree. I love my ASUS ROG Swift PQ348Q monitor and most games now are offering decent support for 21:9. I've been really enjoying Crysis 3 That game still looks gorgeous considering it came out in 2013.

4k @144hz monitor. We still don't have gpu's that can push it to 144hz though on 4k resolutions.
