No, more RAM doesn't make anything faster, RAM is where things are stored while they're being used, so when you open a program it stores information there while the program is running. For games, 4GB is enough. The only reason you'd need more RAM is if you're doing something like video editing or 3D animation--those things need to store a lot of information in memory while it renders. For instance, I have a 3ds Max file that has a ton of textures and geometry, and it takes 9GB of RAM to render. Video games are different because most of that stuff is stored in the GPU memory and is also heavily compressed. 2GB of memory for the GPU should be a minimum.

Precisely

I was going to and the only reason I didn't was I wanted the Tempest Overlord ones.

What do these run, $350?

I would wonder about ghosting with these in games, but I'd like to hear from some people who own and have used them also.

Well, right now I have 12 GB of DDR3 1333. 4 sticks. 2 sticks-of-8 and 2 sticks-of-4. I don't think having 2 different sizes and brands is a good idea.

It's best to have all the same type, but it's not a huge problem

By the way, you can get faster RAM which will actually help, that's one reason the PS4 is a bit more powerful than the Xbox One, because the memory is faster (meaning data can be read and transferred faster).

okay good. I was too lazy to read more than a few posts in this thread. :lol

Currently ... I have a MSI 970A-G46 with an AMD FX-8120 OC'd to 4.0 GHz.

I'm thinking about upgrading the CPU to a Vishera. Probably a AMD FX-9590 Vishera 4.7GHz. FX-8120 and FX-9590 share the same AM3+ socket on my MSI board.

Meanwhile, my friend says go Intel and get a i7-4770K and get a newer board. One of them z87s from GigaByte or ASUS.

Ultimately, I intend to wait till prices go lower, I'm not going to throw my money on that crap now; but what do you guys think on both directions?

I'm thinking about grabbing one of these to plug my laptop into as I'm tired of gaming on the small screen, and I can't lug it into the living to hook up to the TV. Thoughts/opinions for why or why I shouldn't do it?

I read a bit and went with this one....I'll write up my thoughts on it when it gets here. I grew tired of Overlord Tempest charging the full amount up front and then having to wait 3-6 months for it to arrive and the one I got off ebay is $200 cheaper...even if I can't overclock it....although I've read people doing it with this one.

I received it today from South Korea (would have been delivered yesterday but got delayed in customs). Holy hell that is fast shipping.

I love the resolution...i know it has ruined me now and I can't go back to 1920 x 1080. I do miss the 120 hz on gaming but will try and overlock it to see what i can get out of it...hopefully at least 110.

I bought the thicker dvd d cable (23 awg) and hooked it up and haven't made any adjustments and it looks fantastic. I'm sure it'll look even better after i make some adjustments.

Very much worth the $320 shipped. I don't see any dead pixels either.

Damn! What resolution are you at?

OC'd it to 120 hz and loving it. Great monitor.

Downside is it only has a DVI D input but that's not a big deal for me.
