Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

Fact is kids feel ____ about how they look because they are bombarded by the perfect image of beauty, which isn't real it's computer generated. :lecture

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

Maybe they should grow a spine. :dunno

Nothing - but for me I'm uncomfortable when manipulated images are presented as reality. Movies have to declare themselves as fiction to their audience... why shouldn't advertisers?

Is there a disclaimer at the beginning of every movie letting the audience know that what they're seeing isn't real?

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

You will have to emigrate to the UK.

Likely true. A bunch of deadbeat parents tried to sue McDonalds in San Francisco claiming they were enticing their morbidly obese kids with Happy Meal toys. Judge threw the case out. :lol

It's ____ing amazing with all the worlds problems people have the time to worry about being ugly. You know who started this petition? A mom with an ugly ____ing kid that can't afford the plastic surgery they beg for so they can look like their favorite celebretard.

Actually it was a girl who starved herself for years and had health scares as well as body dismorphic issues trying to emulate something that can't be emulated.

Feel like a douche now? Good, you should

Despite being Wofford, why should he feel like a douche? Sounds like failed parenting and a completely undeveloped sense of self esteem. It's not his fault her mommy and daddy dropped the ball. :huh

The one at the end, you know, "the people and events depicted in this movie etc etc...any resemblance is purely coincidental", or something along those lines. I'm not sure whether this is legislated or self-regulated inoculation against litigation though, I'll have to google that one.

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

I'm pretty sure that's to keep them from getting sued by unscrupulous, opportunistic, litigious-minded thieves.

Feel like a douche now? Good, you should

Do you feel like a douche for using her tragic demise as a footstool to mount your high horse?

It's a slippery slope once you start down it tho', whether it is about enlarging the tops, slimming the waists, removing the skin imperfections, they have been doing it for years. It's hard to draw the line without imposing something you can't fully control. Reality isn't necessarily from the billboards or advertisements but also by what you see with your own eyes. From makeup to high heels to plastic surgery, there really isn't a discernible majority consensus on where the line should stop. I guess education is the only way to counter it, while grounding the kids in reality and making sure they know what's truly behind the curtain.

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

So.... who wants to start a petition to sue Heffner for airbrushing over furry warts, skin tabs and stretchmarks? Anybody? :huh

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

How do we even know we're looking at women? :huh

There ought to be a law...

There is no line. Once you've given the state power to regulate which images are truthful and which are false, it's only a matter of who is in power after that. What is true will be controlled by who holds the reins.

No good intention will survive that furnace.

____ censorship.

And ____ the overly coddled generation.

Feeling like ____ about yourself builds character.

Wonder how that happened

The parenting aspect is only part of the issue, those of you with kids, can you say you know exactly what media they consume 24/7? if they feel content with their appearance? What they do or say when you're not around?

The best parents in the world can't shield their children from reality

Body image concerns aren't new by any means, but they were measured against reality, thats not the way it is anymore.

Having media un-airbrushed is hardly opening the floodgates for Big Brother, its simply going back to the way it was... Honest portayel

Re: Petition to ban airbushing images aimed at teens (UK)

And I thought I was being civil by expanding on your point.

Ok. Go ____ yourself meatbag.

Everything back in it's place...

At what point does the child's own mind become responsible for their choices? Granted, schools, particularly in Europe have been destroying children's ability to think for generations. They've been force fed ideologies that have no grounding in reality and they've been flattered for the extent to which they can display their obedience.

However, there are still children who can see through the bull____. Why can they do it without parental or similar guidance, and other cannot? It's because human's aren't cattle and conditioning is not how they learn.

you are right, but manipulated images have been used even before computers had potoshop, either with lighting, make up, clothes, angles,

is like food, Food, is like, when they take pictures of burgers they spray paint them with hair spray, or they use motor oil for syrup sometimes, to make the food look better, is totally a lie, and i dont agree with it, i think is really bad they lie like that.
but is not new, you can't ban something like that,

I believe pornographic images promoted to children should definitely not be airbrushed :lecture
