Just a suggestion for all the Exclusive Cancellers: rather that just cancel them, maybe somebody here would be happy to take your order and maybe even add a few % to the price.

An extra percentage to the price is not necessary, but some of us do pay tax. Then you have the double shipping costs. Next thing you know, you're having to charge into the $400's to break even. And the Paypal fee would be another $12 or so. It adds up.

But before you cancel, definitely post here and make the offer to a board member if you are willing to help somebody out. (If I decide not to keep mine, it already has a good home.)

Thats a very good Idea Goliath the board used to do this kind of thing of all the time. Normally you end up paying a bit more since you ahve to cover the shipping twice but if the exclusive is something want whats another $20-$40 if a board member is willing to help you out.

I live in Australia, and after getting my 30 day shipping notice, the other day, I decided to e-mail SS and ask for a re-quote for the shipping of Lurtz..I got a quote when I first ordered it..($168.ooUSD...), and it has been 2 days and no reply from SS, so, I am guessing they don't want my business...so..

CANCELLED

I mean, if the shipping was still around the same price, I was probably going to cancel anyway...Like, how many who live in the US of A, would still be buying Lurtz, if you had to pay $170.oo shipping???

That is one of the downsides to living Overseas...

The upside is that George Bush isn't our leader...:lol :lol

That statement is very political there.... just hope it didn't bring a war... I didn't know that the shipping can be THAT expensive.... I live in Singapore, I believe that the shipping will be just around that price... we even has to pay the VAT.. 8sigh*

I agree with all of that. It really does suck how expensive shipping costs are, especially from Sideshow. Still if theres a must have exclusive you cant live without you gotta take the burn.

Seems there are a lot of cancellations going on so I may have a shot afterall :monkey3

I do and I dont want to cancel this. I'm more affraid of this piece losing value. I have a feeling its going to be selling cheap on ebay. Its a great piece but money is an issue since there's so much other great stuff out there. And then this line looks dead, 2 figures a year isn't so pleasing. Plus Frodo looks bad. Everything leads to Cancel. The PF Star Wars line made me do it.

I think the exclusive will hold its value but the regular will be available cheaper down the line.

Maybe!? But even a flawless piece like Obi-Wan isn't really holding its value much. The only PF (that isn't a LE of 15) that seems to be doing well is Doom. :monkey2

I am sure the price will drop eventually as LOTR is not as popular as SW.

regardless, I do not care for the price and collect for fun only. I really belive that there will be lots of cancellations on this.

Still waiting the day Darth loki will announce his wait list get converted

I can assure you that LOTR will rise in people's minds when The Hobbit ultimately gets made.

As for the shipping costs . . . I tired shipping out a Morgul Lord before, and the quote I got was something exorbitant. I'd say the shippers have a corner on the market regarding how much it costs to ship. Over $100 for anything that's 72" in girth + height. You realize . . .if you wanted to throw politics into the equation . . .that the cost of gasoline may be the root cause to this. For those people in EU, how much do these statues cost you with shipping???

It depends what country you're in.

Sideshow EU Shipping Chart
https://www.sideshowtoy.com/pop_up/eu_shiptable.html

In the UK SS charge $21.45 for a normal sized statue (it was $29 for oversized pieces which I guess Lurtz would be), it's more expensive in other countries (and increases with weight) as the warehouse is in the UK.

We do however have to pay VAT on both the actual cost and the Shipping.

For example to get the Battle Troll (cost $175) from Sideshow cost me $230.83.

Legogimli on Arod cost me $445.33 ($350 + $29 + $66.33).

:viking Let's talk again in a couple of years! :D

Only time can tell, I was very little then but I wonder if SW was that popular when it was released in 1978. Remembering that Internet is not a commonplace to poliferate the Boromir Effect to "recruit" more collectors...

I also wonder if there are toy shops in the first place. SS was incorporated then, was it??

Somehow I completely missed the Ex version :doh and am now on the waitlist.
Just hope I get a conversion, if not then I`ll have to settle for the Reg. Either way this baby will be mine. :)

If you're just getting on the waitlist for the Exclusive, you're pretty much F'd! I've been on since the end of January and am still waiting. I've never had a PF waitlist not get converted but I'm worried about this one. Do yourself a favor and order the regular from a dealer and save some money. Or you may be able to sweet talk a fellow freak into selling their exclusive instead of cancelling.

I have a regular on order from a dealer already, just in case I don`t get a convertion. If I do I`ll just cancel the regular, either way I`ll have a Lurtz. :D
I think you could be right where the Exclusives concerned though, its not looking good.
