I'm very impressed and excited. I really want to know what Barbossa's doing in royal garbs though, and hope he at least makes an appearance in his usual costume at some point, because if not, and HT only does POTC 4 figures, once again we miss out on Barbossa.

Maybe that uniform was from his younger days? Barbossa looked a little younger to me than he did in the first 3 so maybe he all ready found the Fountain of Youth and he's trying to stop Jack from finding it.

I would think they would be more of a voodoo zombie than the walking dead type. And zombies were basically what the skeletons were in the first one. But Mermaids could be interesting.

I know it makes no sense, but skeletons seem to fit in with pirates moreso than zombies. :lol I guess voodoo dummies do kinda fit in with what's already been done; Calypso struck me as a voodoo priestess before we knew she was Calypso.

Younger or just cleaner? :lol

If you think about it the skeletons from the first film weren't full skeletons..but sort of like Tarman zombies at times..or mummies...with skeletal bits showing...they even resembled other movie zombies at some point.

They want them to look different they will have to step away from that..even though the ones in the OST novel were skeletons-freshly rotting zombies....I do recall Blackbeard's zombies in the book had their mouths sewn shut and when they approach the Fountain they fall to dust... the novel also has ghost pirates in it.

Based on one report..Blackbeard's ship is also supposed to be able to come alive and fight itself...it's also covered in skeletal remains.

Half rotting zombies are in right now...so it would make sense to use that type...better than just guys with whiteout eyes eh ?

Hopefully the trailer release will help with what the supernatural creatures are more...the mermaids are supposed to be both vicious killers and beautiful sirens...that sounds great to me as well. ;D

There is lots of info on keeptothecode.com 's forums BTW...for anyone interested.

I think I'm going to have to find a copy of this book to read. The big question is whether I want to read it before or after the movie...

Ghost pirates would be awesome. Give me true ghost pirates over zombies any day.

Wasn't that Ian McShane as Blackbeard in a few of those clips?? It's odd how they skipped over some pertinent info in that bit. They cut away just as Bruckheimer was going to explain how they're doing the 3D. They glossed over Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa.

The book will give some idea of where they're heading..but it won't ruin it for you I don't think. I read it and exactly how it's all going to play out is beyond me. ;)

Ghost pirates would be uber-cool...something like The Fog ... heh heh

True. They're not making a movie based on the book so much as using the title and apparently enough of the elements that they had to buy the rights.

The adventure this time around follows Jack Sparrow’s quest for the Fountain of Youth. Here are some plot details learned from the USA Today set visit articles:

Penelope Cruz plays Angelica, a Jack Sparrow’s “wicked former flame”, the daughter of Blackbeard (Ian McShane) and a “onetime Sparrow paramour.” Described by Co-screenwriter Terry Rossio as “a kindred spirit who is a con artist at heart as well. She’s not only a romantic interest, but an equal and effective adversary.”
Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) has been recruited by King George II (Richard Griffiths) to join the mission, “meaning Sparrow’s old nemesis has gone corporate, 1750s-century style.”
The film begins with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) caught and dragged into the Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College to meet King George II who “wants him to seek the Fountain of Youth.” The meeting goes “badly.” Sparrow later joins “his ex and her surly father to try to locate the Fountain of Youth.”
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer on the film’s mermaids: “These mermaids are ferocious. On the surface they’re beautiful, but once you get them underwater, they turn pretty scary.”
Co-screenwriter Terry Rossio confirms this journey is a standalone story: “The three previous films are a trilogy, with an intricate, interwoven tapestry of characters. I would call this a stand-alone type of story.”
Head over to USA Today to read the full articles. The first movie trailer will premiere Monday December 13 before being attached to prints of TRON: Legacy across the world on December 17.

Something doesn't sit well about Barbossa going legit of sorts, I hope that's elaborated on because superficially, it just doesn't fit the character.

I totally agree. Hopefully there's a twist to it and he goes back to his pirate ways.

WHoa Whoa Whoa whoa. Whoa.

I've never seen these movies, saw the end of the first one on TV and it looked stupid to me, but are you telling me Ian McShane is in this one? Does he have a large role?

About as much of a role as Geoffrey Rush had in the first one if that makes sense.

Barbossa I'm sure will turn pirate quick enough once he gets what he wants..the Navy and working for the King is just a means to an end I'm sure.

Ian McsShane as Blackbeard should have quite a large role..at least as much Geoffry as Barbossa or Davy Jones.
