I think the seeming simplicity of this new one's plot compared to 2 and 3 should be great. Even Depp last week admitted 2 and 3 were pretty bad and that this would be more like the first which is somewhat reassuring. From the trailers it certainly seems to back up what he's saying. As long as they keep it simple I think he'll come back for a 5th.

I agree. If they make more, they should do stand alone stories, but with CHARACTER arcs, rather then STORY arcs.

Could that guy look any less like a pirate and more like a Teen Beat Saved by the Bell guest star. :lol He looks like if Macgruber was imagining a younger sexier version of himself as a Twilight character.

I don't care about critics. They have loved a lot of movies I thought were total garbage and hated movies I liked so who cares what they think.

Yup, I agree with that! Unless it's subtitled or has someone with a disability, they pan it.

Hmm... Well, we'll see then. Im not sure if these guys are the best one's to judge a summer flick. Look at Roger Ebert... He hates Thor. So...I dont even know.

We have a local critic here who hates almost everything. If it's not a serious drama, he pans it.

I find most critics don't care for scifi, horror or fantasy movies.

I'm finding more positive then negative and the negative things seem to be thats its a typical action franchise movie. Most also mention that its better then 2 and 3 so thats really all I've been expecting/hoping for. When has some 4th movie come along and revolutionized a series? :lol

As long as I enjoy it I couldn't really care much what critics have to think. Going to see this at midnight on IMAX 3D

For some reason I kept thinking this was going to be a prequel but it's not is it, it continues on from the third with Jack looking for the Fountain of Youth.

But I am also confused because wasn't Jack immortal in the first movie?

I never pay attention to critics either. I never even know what they say about any movie. I'm excited to see this, waiting until next weekend though because I'm going to see it with my cousin. Unless someone invites me this weekend.

Jack was immortal for about 5 minutes. He set Barbossa up getting rid of most of the crew and took a piece of the cursed treasure knowing he wouldn't be able to kill Barbossa. Then after Will kills the remaining crew that stayed behind, when Barbossa aims at Elizabeth, Jack cuts himself and tosses the bloody coin back to Will, repaying the debt, and Will does the same, lifting the curse on all the pirates and killing Barbossa. Jack ceases to be immortal, thus he died in part 2 remember?

The reason Little Jack the monkey is still undead is because he never repayed the blood debt.

But the immortality sucks because you can't feel anything, no pleasure, no taste of food. And the Fountain doesn't grant immortality, just revitalises your youth, makes you younger and spryer. You'd have to keep drinking from it every few years to live forever.

The reason Little Jack the monkey is still undead is because he never repayed the blood debt.

For the curse to be lifted for everyone, every piece must be returned and blood repayed. Jack's blood and coin and Will's blood and coin were the only 2 left and thus it lifts at the moment Will drops both coins in. Jack the monkey becomes undead in the post credits scene, he's still hanging around in the cave and he steals a coin.
