Yes, there was definitely an announcement about a deal, and all the armchair politicians around here were declaring that that money should be used to bail out the economy. :lol

I was one of them, POTC is great and I love Jack Sparrow, but seeing contract numbers for making something purely for entertainment when we're in an economic crisis did seem crazy.

If he's not contracted then the whole story was B.S., or maybe it was an offer.

Think of it as a stimulus package for one. Although since Depp lives in France, it won't help the US economy much.

Ah, the Pirates score, how I wish an ultimate edition of that would be released :monkey2

I love every note from the moment Jack first starts fighting Barbossa until he shoots him, and yet, only snippets of it are available.

As for the PF, I hope even like raw sculpts shots or something get shown soon, anything along the way to getting the prototype besides sketches would be nice.

Why isn't there a PERS system for PF's?

Capt. Jack would benefit greatly.

Because then you'd have a seam. PF's are about looks and avoiding seamlines, plus it's a posed piece and usually, eyes only look good on it facing whatever way they're painted. PERS is of value on figures where the poses can be changed to anything, which is why I like PERS better than painting posed eyes on figures, that is too limiting for a figure and belongs on statues. If a statue is posed to be facing off to the left or right, what good are posable eyes that can turn the other direction, would look silly.

I really don't see why extended scores were not made available. There is so much missing from the original soundtracks it isn't even funny. I would kill for some of that score in the maelstrom sequence.

Yup, the maelstrom is another case, we get some of it, thankfully, but not the whole. The 2 best sequences in the entire trilogy and we don't have the full music.

Unfortunately, most composers have control over the scores, which is why often tracks will actually mix cues from varying scenes of the film, they like to make the CD almost like a portfolio of their work on the film and arrange it how they want it, rather than give every note from the film or keep the cues in context of film order. I'm not familiar with the Lord of the Rings complete scores and how true those are to the name, but of ones I've encountered, only The Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition actually captures every not, in exact order, from start to finish from the movie, and I love it for that, too bad it's not my favorite of the Star Wars scores. I'd love to have complete, start to finish scores for all 3 Pirates films, Nolan's Batman movies, and the Star Wars saga, but sadly, it doesn't seem like it'll ever happen.

The LOTR scores contain every single cue in the films and I do wish that is the way all scores were. I am with you 100% on your wishlist.

I should add, it wasn't promoted as an ultimate edition, but I have a Rambo 2 score that is every note from the film as well, was really shocked but delighted to find it.

I don't blame the composers for wanting to present the music in their vision, however, most people want all the notes from the film, they don't want missing cues or mixed cues from all over the movies, and anything on the CD not in the film can always be bonus tracks. Give the people what they want :lol

On that note, I hope Zimmer will be back for POTC 4 if it moves forward.

I never realized for a long time that Zimmer was actually part of making the first score with Badelt, I though he was a replacement on DMC but turns out he just took the full role. I have a track that's supposedly the demo he presented to Disney for the first film, it's great, heavily plays the kinda music like the Barbossa duel, it's about as close to capturing that full track as I think I'll ever get. I love the internet for things like that, some great music and things out there I'd never know or enjoy were it not for the access the internet provides.

As far as POTC 4 goes, there are 2 things I feel are a must for it, Depp back as Sparrow, and Zimmer doing the score, at least those 2 elements SHOULD keep it feeling like it belongs with the previous entries, I'm a bit concerned a new director might depart too much from what Gore created, and if it was Zimmer doing the score again, I doubt they'd get someone good enough to pick up and use his cues well. Brian Tyler's the best composer I've encountered at blending old cues from a series and coming up with new ones that feel they belong (RAMBO is a great score).

Yeah, what Klaus did with Zimmer is pretty phenomenal. It was cool to see him hand off the torch if you will for the two second films. They created some very memorable music and it can be pretty easily identifiable even by those who are not aficionados of the score.

Yeah, there's a pirate themed mini golf course I went to a few times in Florida a couple years ago on family vacation and I loved being there because they were always playing the score from Pirates so I got to have fun and here music I really liked, though whenever Jack's theme came up, I wanted to get on the mast of the fake ship and stand like him :lol

The 2 cues that highlight Jack are just great, the intro one used in every movie, which is also a must in 4, and the one that always highlighted his antics, like when he and Will steal the ship, or in DMC when he's fleeing the cannibals, it's just so fun and fitting for the character. Those pieces, the music like when Jack first runs away from Norrington in Curse, and the duel themes from the pirate cave and the maelstrom are the highlights, the whole scores are nice but those 4 cues are my favorites. I also really like Up is Down.

One piece that unfortunately did not make the cut in the DMC soundtrack was when the crew was running in those cages that went along with Jack being bounded. I really wish that would have made the cut.

Yeah, that bit mixes in parts from tracks that did get on the CD, but it's not the same.

I also wish the music from when Jack, Will and Norrington are dueling on the beach up until the wheel taking off past the grave with Jack was on the disc, but it picks up once they're in the jungle fighting, and I much prefer the music from the first half of that confrontation, when they're first in that old church or whatever it is, that's some great stuff. "By your leave Mr. Norrington!"

Um...Moonlight Sarade(?) and Skulls and Crossbones is the whole fight....:D

No it's not, there's a bit missing, and some really good stuff at that, all the music from like when Mr. Swann is fighting the skull hand and that bit. What's on the CD covers the start and end of the duel, but some of the great stuff in between is absent, and I love the whole entirety, it sucks having that bit in the middle missing, even if I've got 2/3, it sucks missing the other 3rd.

Thats basicly Will And Elizebeth. One of the things that annoyed me about that score....not much new stuff.

And half the Malstrom is Wheel of Fortune anyway....
