Heres why I like 4. Nothing completely retarded over the top like Jack swinging around on the top of a wet slipperly sail mast in the rain while he dances and swordfights a talking crustacean and the ship gets sucked down into a maelstrom.

If you put something like Davy Jones into your movie, let that be the over the top thing. Davy Jones can breath under water because it just seems ok for something like him. Jack defying the laws of physics in impossible ways we know a human cannot just becomes stupid, makes me go ugh, and never watch the movie again.

Same thing as I just watched Van Helsing last night for the first time, you have a movie where you establish Dracula and a Wolfman, let those two be the over the top things that can do stuff regular humans can't like fly around or get shot a buncha times or survive an impossible fall. Twoards the end, Kate Beckinsale does a backflip 500 ft above the rocks from one wet rope to another wet rope and it's retarded unbelievable. I'll never bother with that dumb **** movie again.

Its exactly that kind of thing that ruined both DMC and AWE. They didn't know when to say enough is enough (Hell the same goes for Indy 5) so instead of one Indyesque moment with Jack getting lucky, he is able to run and swordfight on top of a moving spinning water mill.

Keep that crap in check like they did with 4 and I'll be happy.

If its decent then 1, 4, and 5 could potentially make for a nice little trilogy.

Except the unexplained return of Barbossa and Jack losing the Pearl, but I still prefer to imagine a fill in the blank situation then accept DMC as part of the series because its a cliffhangar and then you have to accept AWE and AWE is just pure garbage.

Admittedly I forgot Barbossa was even 4. :lol

DMC would've been good if the story had been self-contained. The ill-placed love triangle and wannabe Empire Strikes Back ending kill it for me. And where the hell did Zoe Saldana go?

You'd write off Dead Man's Chest because Jack sword fought on a rolling water mill? That's who his character has always been. How is that any different than walking underwater with a boat on your head, or jumping off the cliff at the end, or any of the other goofy stunts he pulled off in the first one?

And why is Squid-face unacceptable but zombies are?

I loved Davy Jones and Bill Nighy nailed that role. I don't think we should see him again though.

Jack gave her the boat he promised her.

Glad to hear they're taking another crack at this. I was hoping Stranger Tides wasn't going to be the final note. I may regret my hope.

Depp said he'll keep doing them as long as there is interest... Anyone else hoping for Bloom to come back? I heard he wants to.

I wish the answer to that question was "in bed with Flosi"
:rotfl

I guess that was the Enterprise? :dunno

Could do w/ out Bloom, myself. I feel like his story is pretty much done. Seeing as its Disney I always kind of figured Catian Hook would show up at some point. Even if it were just a cameo of sorts. Still waiting on that.

No Will, and hopefully no Mermaid and religious whoevers.

Barbossa on the Queen Anne with Scrum. Jack back on the Pearl and a whole fleet of ships he stole with Gibbs. Angelica wanting revenge. That seems like enough to run with already.

If I'm not mistaken, I think they have kept the Peter Pan and POTC rides seperate all these 20 years with no referance in one to the other, so I don't think they'll do anything in the movies.

I love PotC1. I hated PotC2. I didn't bother with PotC3. PotC4 was decent compared to PotC2 but there were weird things linking it to the previous ones that I couldn't fully embrace (Barbossa and the Pearl). This series would have been much better if it was solo adventures with no real sense of order. Sorta like Indiana Jones? Things got bad when they tried to connect everything to itself (KotCS).

Which I was also about to say should be interesting. Barbossa and Jack fighting over the Pearl was there in pretty much all 4 movies, because we knew as soon as we saw him at the end of 2 he was gonna want the ship back. Now Barbossa has arguably the better ship, it will be nice to see that plot thread behind us. Maybe we will see Jack as a compitant Captain for the first time ever.
