Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

They should. Will they? No. Lois Lane and Lex Luthor were main characters in SR will they come? No. The reality is you are simply fine with not being a completist but that doesn't change the fact that the lines are incomplete because not all major characters were done. I think if you really look at all of HT's line they aren't complete, very few lines for any company are.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Again. Subjective. Rocky and opponents do just fine for me. Won't lie, I'd like a Mickey but no biggie. A lot of people would include Adrian as a major character. She was. SHOULD they produce one?

Maybe they should. Just because you don't care doesn't mean people shouldn't be free to ^^^^^ about the lack of an Adrian figure if they wanted one.

When you put it that way I'd have to agree. Probably no line is complete. I think to expect it is just going to lead to disappointment.

People can ^^^^^ all they want about it. Won't help but feel free. I agree with you guys in wanting EVERYTHING. I'll buy anything they make. I'm not with some of you in expecting it or feeling they owe it to their base to provide everything.

Not in the smaller cases like HT's properties. Hot Toys is 1 figure away from making the POTC line seem complete, make a Gordon and the TDK line feels complete, make Rambo 4 and that'll feel complete. Some lines and properties will be a challenge to complete and probably never see that point, but there are plenty that could have 1 more figure and feel wrapped up. Sideshow's T2 1/6 figure line, make a 1/6 Young John Connor and that line will at least feel finished because all the major players are represented, sure BD T-800 would be awesome, but it wouldn't be as though T-800 isn't represented.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

And it's frustrating as hell that they won't finish lines.

Good thing I like to customize.

Fact is, I don't have one 1/6th line from any company that is complete. Sideshow is guilty of this as well. Business is business I suppose. I'm always left to fill in the gaps myself.

Barbossa really aggravates me only because it's a nearly impossible figure to cobble together with parts. The outfit is too complex. It would take a committed artist willing to take the project on as a whole -- hint, hint, Shawn -- or a factory made version. But I don't want to wait a year or two until the next film.

One thing I'd really love companies to do is come forth with an announcement that a line is officially complete or that their license for that line has expired. That way, customers know whether to hold out for a figure or get started on their own custom.

:) two cents

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I still need a will, and I'm holing out for flying dutchman version. Also hoping for a pirate version of miss swan. In addition, yes, we wants Barbossa!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

As a POTC fan, I'd love to see Elizabeth from Curse and DMC, but as a collector of this line, I'm sorta so-so on the idea only because the HT female just doen't mesh with the HT male, the height difference is way to drastic in general but especially for Jack and Will compared to Elizabeth, they all stand within an inch or two of each other, but Jack and Will as figures come out to the equivalent of a foot taller. At this stage I'd rather Barbossa and other male figures that will fit well with each other.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I generally don't make a habit of this, but this thread gets a lot of mileage for Pirates fans so...

I'm looking for an HT Will and/or Eliz, loose preferably. If anyone has a lead for me besides ebay, I thank you. I'm in the WTB section.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Iconic to you. To me, it's the red, white, and blue trunks. Got my iconic version.

No offense but I can't see how that version is anyone's iconic version, after all he is wearing Apollo's colors. the Iconic version of fighting Rocky will always be the first one I think, White shorts with orange.

"ADRIAN!!!!!!11"

It would be nice, but they probably don't as it would hurt sales or give collectors a solid reason to dump figureso on the secondary market... which hurts overall value.

I agree that a few series just need one or two figures to get to that sweet spot, but for whatever reason it seems like a lot of us will have incomplete collections.

Right now I'm cobbling together a T1 Terminator as it seems very unlikely we'll ever see a great production version.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I think there is a diffrence between a line being complete and a line having every single figure you'd want. I think Barbossa would make the line more or less complete, however, there is a lot more characters or variants of character's I'd buy. As far as them announcing the line is dead in my opinion it would boost sales, for at least, I'd pick up Liz and maybe Sao Feng, I didn't buy them yet because my space is limited and i'd Rather have other figures then those two.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I also think in some cases it might boost sales to announce a line is finished. Like Denger, I would pick up figures to complete my collection instead of waiting endlessly just in case they make one version I'd prefer over another. Example, I didn't buy Will because I figured they'd make a DMC version. Now, I have no idea if they will, so I just wait.

I think it would only hurt lines that people aren't that passionate about unless they are complete. Like LOTR. If SS announced it was finished, a lot of people would unload their incomplete Fellowship.

But I think it's fine if a company says a line is finished IF they have no outstanding preorders to hurt business. Like with Bond or Highlander or whatever. It wouldn't hurt their sales at all to say it's done.
