Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Ok guys, so I have my Jack Sparrows and was wondering if I could get a breakdown of where everything needs to be placed on him, and how exactly I need to wrap his pink and white cloth around him?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

First bit of advice, wet down the sash off the figure and just roll it around in a ball in your hands for a few minutes to wrinkle it up so it looks more worn out, it's too ironed and smooth from the factory.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yea, I sort of have a good look for him but the damn pants keep falling. I may just topstick those to him and redo the sash.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

The waist on the pants suck, between the velcro and they just don't go high enough or have enough room in them, probably the only poorly tailored part of his costume.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Probably pointless to topstick it then. Ah well. I've also come to the conclusion that they keys are not actually on Jack's person. I cannot find an image of him with them. The tails though I have finally found :lol

The keys, I put on one of the belts. I can take photos and give you details later. It's semi intricate setting up all his things.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Got Davy Jones for Christmas---this is one awesome figure!

And he's taller than the Joker and TDK Batman figures that I have. Makes me wonder how tall the other POTC figures are if Jones is supposed to be short compared to them.

Plus, it was a damaged box discount item, but I don't see any damage on the box, so it's like new for a lower price.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I wonder if Medicom having a DMC license caused issues. They were really late to the game with their AWE offering. The first 3 figures were shipped, if I remember right, in the fall after the movie came out, so already interest is fading, by the time the DVD hit, it was out a bit before the last 3 shipped. I think TDK and Iron Man show lesson learned. I think POTC taught them ^^^^, we blew it with our releases and they learned to strike while the movie's hot. That's why I'm keeping faith they'll be all over POTC 4.

Russell Brand as a pirate!!! Me and Zoo will be all over that! :banana

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Got Cannibal Jack for Christmas. The tailoring on this guy is phenomenal.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Put the Hat from the original HT jack on mine. Completes the look. I don't think I'll end up getting the jacket off ebay as well though.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Dunno. Just thought of it today. :) I got mine not too long ago, and I've been to busy with other things to experiment with them. Hell, I didn't even get a chance to photograph all of them yet. (Elizabeth still needs some camera time.)

Anyway, I love the idea. I'll have to do that tomorrow. Thanks for confirming that it's doable.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Ahh, yes, any Jack head from Hot Toys can go on the first release.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I put the smirking head on the original Jack body the day I got it, which was when it had first been released in the US back in Spring. Looks a lot better on that outfit than the blank stare of the original head.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Davy really isnt that small. his legs are just spread too wide in that pic. here's mine next to jack. no modifications. but jack isn't wearing his hat.

i saw this post, and i suddenly have an urge for Red Lobster or crawfish

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Has anyone removed the hair from Elizabeth? (I'd like to try casting the head) Is it hard to remove? Easy to put back on? Any pics? Thanks!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Question - Does Elizabeth have feet or do the boots plug into the leg? Also, the figure is scaling out to be between 5 foot and 5 foot 5 correct? (ie too short for the Elizabeth character).

The fig's legs plug into the boots like Sparrow. No feet.

She is too short, but someone (Kingdarkness I think) showed a tutorial to shorten Jack -- by removing the extenders at the ankles -- which brings them into relative correct height range.

He may have even removed the extenders from Jack and added those extenders to Swann.
