Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hey Indiana -- I have all the clothing parts now to build the two, but I still need the bodies: HT Swann and a TT body for Will. The TT is not a problem, but finding a Swann body for a good price is becoming impossible. I'll keep trying but at some point I may have to break down and just buy the whole AWE Swann in the box to get that damn body. I'm shocked there's no sculpt of her elsewhere for sale. Anyway, once I get the bodies, I'm good to go. I'll definitely post the recipe once I'm certain all the parts work or can be made to work.

And yeah, sorry to say that the Tonner dolls are 18" tall. The clothing is gonna need some serious resewing to fit on a 1/6th figure. But maybe you can resell it.

Thanks Wor-Gar, I'll keep watching for that secret 'recipe' once you're able to post it.

As for the Tonner outfit, looks like I'll have to resell it. Ah well, live and learn. :angelsmil

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I mentioned this in the Go Hero thread, but I thought I'd post it here; GH are supposed to be doing a Skeleton Warrior figure somewhere down the line, and I was thinking that it might be a way of doing an (expensive) Skeleton Jack Sparrow custom.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Anyone notice cannibal jack at BBTS is going for 105$? Great price for an excellent figure

Just got mine down from the shelf, it's fixed solid and always has been.
I did say in my review-
"He has a sculpted ponytail at the back, this has a degree of movement, but it’s worn close into the neck so if he had had the joint at the base of the neck and you made him look up acutely you would almost certainly of damaged the pony-tail, maybe even have broken it off."

So I've always been careful when posing.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Thanks wookster, this is what i thought but the seller says all his 5 loose heads have loose ponytails, but mine was never loose until i broke it now last week.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It saddens me that BBTS is fighting to get rid of the Cannibal Jack, but hopefully they're one of the few and it's not a sign of hard sells in the line. Sao's on second chance gift card at Sideshow, but that's understandable.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Things are slowing down. Hot Toys stuff used to be practically sold out before release, or soon after. Now it's starting to settle down, which is better for the collector.

You shouldn't have to pre-order everything. Their proto's remain faithfull, that's a given, but some things need to be divulged, and they don't do that, or allow you to get the chance to find out. So it makes for a pleasant change to be able to see the article for yourself and make a judgement with the aid of reports from others.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It'd be nice if the pattern spreads accross all of their lines, but so far POTC is the first I'm hearing of where figures are easily had some time after release, so I fear such sales reflect only struggling lines. If Dark Knight goes this way, then I think it's safe to say it's a universal trend.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

There's a stack of BR Jokers on ebay. They're still pulling a good price. I see that changing too. I think it's a good thing.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Absolutely, like I said, I just hope to see it accross the board rather just a line or two.

Historically, I've cancelled some other items I may want more than a Hot Toys piece simply because of the fear of get it now for retail or pay dearly later where other items can be had for retail later in the game. It'd be nice to know if I have to delay getting an HT item, I won't have to break the bank to get it later.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

They haven't got many more lines going have they? :lol They only seem to concentrate on no more than a handful, not including military and their more esoteric stuff.

Yes, I agree, it should help to equalise the price. Might see more stuff parted out too.

It does seem like HT is "finished" with its major lines other than its last BIG license, Ironman. No more Batman, POTC done, ALIEN no announcements, Predator vanished, Aliens hasn't had anything new in over a year, neither has Superman or anything else.

So what's HT working on besides IROMAN?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hellboy and Edward Scissorhands. Edward's practically a solo act, so maybe a couple more from Hellboy. Spirit, whatever that is. Can't think of any more off the top of my head. I'm sure they have their 2009 mapped out, to max collectors out.

Hopefully some more wicked icon figures like their rebel james dean and brando figures. I want more oldies

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

They must still have that Brando Godfather that surfaced briefly a few months ago and then was never heard of again - I wonder what happened? Problems with the rights possibly? Or just a revised release schedule?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Seriously, HT should not stop adding to this collection.
