Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Any chance of soaking the coat and shaping it in a way that makes it look less like 80's power shoulders?

I can't imagine water making a difference, I think the shoulders are defined by the thickness of the material with the inner and outer layer and the stitching at the shoulder seam, makes it kinda rigid at that point and I don't think you can soften that.

Too bad. Maybe the DX will solve that.

But the standard HT Jack coat has several problems keeping it from being ideal; cut, color, no frills in back, no weathering, etc.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yeah, I keep hope for a DX for a PERS head and proper coat. It's really a shame they did so poorly on the coat, every other part of his costume is fantastic. Narrow TT with the right coat and the existing clothes would look fantastic. Actually, Sparrow might even be better on the slim TT, have to see for certain just how much of a difference the narrow shoulders makes, certainly it'll be more human than the regular TT, but it may still not be Johnny Depp.

quick pic I snapped. Probably not the best pose to show off the shoulders. Will snap some more later

Also should note, the neck adapter and part of his chest has been painted to match the skin on the face and the hands as best I could.

Thanks, keep 'em coming. I'm looking forward to customizing my Pirates, and it's nice to have the inspiration from other folks' customs.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Is there a good reference site that shows how Jack's costume should look? I have a Cannibal Jack and want to put the smiling head on it and make him a more universal Jack but need to know how everything should appear on him.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I just go by the photos of Jack, they're pretty clear enough.

I lost quite a few off of Will Turner too, the second I took him out of his box. Those glued on buttons sucked.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Never noticed that. Oh well. Pirates don't care about their buttons :lol

Agreed!!

Personaly, I'm going to swap the upper torso from my AWE jack, as well as his lower arms to help keep the color matched up once i get my slimmer truetypes.

How long have these figures been out for?

The first Jack Sparrow and Sao Feng came out about 2 years ago with the release of At World's End. The last two figures, Davy and Cannibal Jack, shipped around April-May 2008.

Question for fellow Pirates fans -
Has anyone seen a 1/6 headsculpt out there that at least comes close to resembling Norrington (Jack Davenport)? I'm only looking at the face area; ignore the hair.

I'm considering a custom, but would need to find a decent head.

I'd say the Harvey Dent head might work. Both Davenport and Ekhart have those square jaws and strong features.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Anyone know how much a cannibal sparrow go for these days?

I'm thinking of getting one, since the chances of getting a kojun sparrow is pretty slim.
