So glad I held off the earlier releases now, especially since the price hike.

This is a character made for PERS.

Indeed it is!! I seriously hope they'll kick off with a DX Jack, instead of a regular and a bunch of variants first...

Yeah, it's pretty certain they'll start with Jack, but will it be a DX from the start, or will they DX him later like the Joker and Batman...

Of those it'll probably only be Indy and Jack for me, but with the Tron: Legacy, Thor and Captain America licenses as well, it's probably gonna be a very expensive year!!

They'll likely start with Jack much like starting the Terminator lines with the T-800. People won't jump to buy the other characters without a Sparrow guarantee. Plus, you can start selling Jack before the movie even hits theaters because his fandom is established.

Now, going by the trailer, I don't think Jack has any alternate costuming, he rarely did in 1-3, so if they DX him, I wonder if they'll toss in 1-3 unique costume bits to fill out the set, maybe even a portrait without the new scar.

That's the only thing I don't like about the standardization of the DX bases. I thought the Batman base was meant to be a unique depiction of the real world display of the suits, but using that as the same for all DX and just changing the "floor" isn't the best idea in my mind. I know it's probably to try and keep a consistency and "class" to the figures, but I think doing bases that aren't standard at all and very specific to the figure would be better, like the Predator or T:S bases. Jack would look cooler with floor and railing from the Black Pearl, but with the current DX bases, we'd get just some wood flooring and maybe a cardboard backdrop.

Exactly. I also assumed the two TDK DXs were completely specific to them, (being replicas of the displays used for the movie outifts in ArclightCinema, etc).

Even the BD IM has a more interesting base and he's just MMS.

Hoping for something special for this, and Indy, AND Supes.

Time will tell, but I'm definitely not a fan of the boxes and bases being so identical.

I don't even see a point to it. Even if collectors buy every DX figure, I don't think many will display them all together, but rather display them among the other figures from that license, so there's no value to them all looking alike.

It seems like just a way to cheap out and not reinvent the wheel every time, but with all the unique bases they've been doing over the past year or so, they're setting precedent for collectors to want unique bases in these "above and beyond" figure releases. Hell, even MMS Spider-man comes with an environment base. I could be ok with DX Jack having two bases like that. Maybe they will.

PERS is a no brainer for Jack as a DX, but as far as accessories, he's even lighter than MJ, so I wonder what they'll do to fill out the set because at DX prices, people won't settle for a one costume figure that just has 2 heads.

people did settle for less with the MJ bad. Heck, they didnt even throw in a mic that everyone asked for

My mistake, I didn't realize the MJ came with so little, I thought there was more to the alternate looks you could make.

Guess Jack could be nothing more than an update to the old MMS version with 1 or 2 heads and PERS.

No matter what, I'll probably get him, everything should be better than the old Jack figures and Sparrow's one of my most favorite characters. Just hope it's worth it, I passed up the PF to save the funds to go towards a new Jack figure, I can't buy both so I opted for posable figure, but that PF looks damn good and I don't want to regret that.

Im all for a Diorama base as well. Depending upon which film they do for DX (Im thinking they give him everything from all 4 movies...hoping anyway). Most sensible would be the Black Pearl ship base. Im thinking 2 PERS head sculpts. one "serious" and one much like the Cannibal King head sculpt but without the paint. They sculpt is in dire need of PERS lol.

Im a HUGE Depp/Sparrow fan so this is by far my most wanted figure of 2011. Right along side the HT Indy. Thats like the "One-Two Punch!"

Even if this was just a basic Jack figure with minimal accessories and a slightly tweaked sculpt I would get it, for the PERS alone.

This will MAKE the figure.

As far as his costume, I'm hoping they'll better tailor the sleeves on his shirt and get the color and fabric of his coat right. I hope they make his baldric longer too so the sword hangs lower like it should.
