Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

That's shocking, seemed like you're poured a lot into getting that customized.

I did, but second term tuition is luring its ugly head, and I need money. I've also got a King Leo listed in commerce if anyone is interested in that as well :wave

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I really hope this DX will come with a smiling sculpt! Would really make him stand out among all the "sour faces" in my collection! :lol :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I only want a smirk head if they get a true smirk, the one that came with Cannibal Jack is too smiley for me and not a good representation of Jack's overall persona. A real smirk or a calculating face like the Sideshow PF would best sum up Jack in my book.

The good news is, with PERS, the contrast of whit and black in Johnny's eyes will come through on a figure. Too many makers give Jack Johnny's eye color but he wears sunglass contacts in the movies and you just about never see color. It's a key part of getting the portrait to look right. PERS eyes have very white whites and almost blakc iris so it should look perfect.

I do hope HT does like their Barney Ross and make his right wrist wrap part on his hand and part on his wrist so we get more hand posability on that side. The way it was done on the first Jacks hurts posing options.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Super psyched over the dx news! I think kojun should be doing the sculpt, seeing that he did those limited ones not long ago with real hair. Finally, a kojun sparrow at a reasonable price :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

You guys think they'll show something at the expo? At the very least i'm hoping for a little flyer that shows who they'll be making (like they did for IM2)

I would count on Kojun doing it too and I sure hope he is.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I don't care who sculpts it so long as it looks more like Depp than their past sculpts and captures Jack's persona properly.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I would kill for Barbossa. :D Really!

The only memorable PotC character that is not available at all. He's impossible to customize, the suit is too complicated. And don't forget about undead monkey and apples!! ;)

I really love this character coz he's contrasting to the Jack pretty cool. They are so different, but so similar in one time! It would be big disappointment for me to see new movie with Barbossa, but have no figure of Barbossa.

He's AMAZING an so CRAZY!
Best character to do after Jack, HT. :lecture Bring him to us!!

Penelope Cruz also nice.

Boobs are always nice, imho.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'm so with you. In the first film, my FAVORITE character was indeed Barbossa. He's the one I quoted more often. With Sparrow, it was only "why is the rum gone?" because it applied to real life so often.

When the next 2 films came in, Barbossa was still a favorite but Davy Jones became a new favorite as well. Hot Toys gave us a shorty Davy Jones but I'm accepting that. We really need a Barbossa though.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Coheteboy, so agree!

But still he's brilliant in the 3d movie! :D
"Yaaar, so now we're COMPLETELY lost!!! Ahahhahaaaahaaaa!" - pointing the ship into the deadly waterfall. XD

And I agree with you about Davy, greatest villain. One of the best of 2010ths. And HT done perfect job with him, even thou the character one of the most hard to do.

In my personal "Hot Toys Top 5" he's on the 2nd place (Joker DX - 5th (as best DX yet), T-800 Endo - 4th (coz he's so hard engineered, but still has some problems with authenticity), Hellboy - 3th (coz of the shining accessories, cloths, muscular body and very authentic head), Davy J. - 2nd (so F hard to do figure and so brilliant job done!), Don Vito - 1st (coz this set is the best, I know many people who bought it after just seen it, without collecting dolls at all! Still, I think, best designed HT release); my top is not about characters, but about technologies, accessories and hard-to-do \ job-done).

PS.
PF looks damn good
Sorry, guys, but can't keep silence here. PF looks very lazy for me. The right hand sculpted really badly, the paint job is so lame and the accessories are pretty poor: no monkey hand, no talismans on the belt, no fur tail, no keys, no flin-gun under the belt, even compass could not be displayed opened. Well, it's not 90% bad as Hitman, I'd say, but still I would like to see more from 1/4 scale figure for 300$+. PF made on 3 of 5 points, imho, and the only argue here is the scale that gives me no rights so compare SC and HT here. :D

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

This is really cool, someone did a 1/6 diorama of Davy Jones' piano from the Dutchman for the HT exhibit.
