Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Imagine a Barbosa trifecta Dx.

New Costume

Old Costume

Skeleton

:rock

wishful thinking, yes. :lol

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I really don't care for the new costume at all, I'll live with paying for it if I must to get a pirate Barbossa, but it'll just go in the trash or get sold off, I will never use it.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Same here. Pirate Barbossa is what I want in my display.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I still have a hunch we will see him in his old costume a little bit in the new movie but we'll see.

just saw a new tv spot and he is- its gonna be one of those old costume for 1/10 of the film switches to new for the remainder.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

As long as he wears it for some portion of this movie, HT should be able to make it, just like OC Batman, but our luck they'll give us an FU and do royal navy Barbossa.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Found off imdb Trivia for POTC:COTBP:

The name "Barbossa" might have been derived from the real Turkish pirate "Barbarossa". Barbarossa, also known as "Redbeard", was once a pirate in the Aegean and the Mediterranean seas before he became a fleet admiral of the Ottoman Empire navy.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I thought that was common knowledge, at least regarding where the barbossa name came from :D

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I thought it came from the name "Vinnie Barbarino", a pirate that terrorized the greater New York area back in the 1970's...

Great news, I can def see HT doing this the same way they did with bats.

This sounds promising...Barbossa is a MUST!!! But he NEEDS to be in his pirate gear IMO...a 1/6 Jack, Barbossa and Blackbeard would :rock :rock :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I like that we didn't even saw the movie, yet we know blackbeard is gonna be freakin' badass :D

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

His eyes says that even in trailer, man. Pure insane.

I don't know, I always think of Ian McShane being the soft spoken quiet type with a foul mouth. I mean, I've never really seen him get really nasty to the point where he'd trump Geoffrey Rush. And yes, I've seen Deadwood. Even in the trailers, he seems somewhat subdued.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I have a feeling that may be why he was cast. Blackbeard in this movie seems to strike fear just with his reputation, like his most in your face evil days are long behind him and everyone just knows not to ____ with him and all it takes is a look or a few soft spoken words to make his point.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Blackbeard will be bad ***, Ian gets to the point where you know just by looking at him, he could kill the crap out of you, but he keeps his cool even when at his angriest.

Watch the scene in Deadwood where he fights Olyphant, when they go over the balcony Ian's messed up bad but he just gets up and speaks normally. :lol Or in Sexy Beast no matter what he does, he keeps his cool.

It's very intimidating to know this guy could kill you and it wouldn't even mean anything to him emotionally. And its perfect because he was known to kill members of his crew without batting an eye to remind people he was in charge. He was said to be worse to his crew then to captives and enemies.

From what I can gather so far on Blackbeard in this movie

It seems they will follow his real legend of assembling an armada and blockading carolina etc, then after his supposed death, he uses the oppurtunity to semi retire and gain a larger share of all the treasure he assembled.

Also he seems to be able to use voodoo, or more likely, his daughter has learned it and is helping him or teaching it to him. This is where the mention of zombies come from, his entire crew is under a voodoo spell. Its how the ships come to life to help him and how he puts ships in a bottle, also how Angelica has a Jack Sparrow voodoo doll to make him lead Blackbeard to the Fountain. And finally he has stopped building an armada and now collects ships hes bested, including the pearl, which is likely why Barbossa is seeking him for revenge for losing his leg, and likely to get the pearl back.

Lot of lego and toy stuff backs all that with ships in bottles, and the voodoo doll etc.
