Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I found the bigest problem when photographing Liz was getting enough contrast and definition. In hand she looked fine to me but as far as my camera was concerned her palette was a little flat, I had a few problems with Will as well. The Jacks and Saos on the other hand were fine!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I got a new camera and was playing around with it last night, trying to get used to it's layout. Here are a few pics I took of Cannibal Jack-

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Nothing special, a happy snappy Fuji FinePix. I've had the old 4700 zoom for about 7 years and it's till going strong, great camera but struggles in certain light with macro pics. So I was checking over eBay and a seller was getting rid of a whole batch of F610's brand new and boxed, it retailed at about £450 to £500 when first released (admittedly that was about 3 years ago, and we all know how quick technology changes) but I got it for £40 and it's a great little camera.
Back in the day I was a dedicated Olympus OM1N, fully manual, all my own darkroom stuff kind of guy, but now I realise working in illustration and design that these little cameras suit me fine, sometimes I need to do a little colour ballancing in photoshop but most of the time I like to use them just as shot.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Ya, digitals are getting better and better. The ammount of post-production tweaks I need to make on my current Canon compared to the previous one is pretty significant, though being a PS and other software nut, I enjoy the possibilities of post.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Sorry to go off topic for a while, I'll finish here, but here are a few old pics using my old Fuji, Marmit and Hasbro figs and my local woods with a bit of PS trickery-

They're pretty old and I don't tend to do much composit stuff any more.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hey wookster most impressed, especially as you are an inhabitee of this sceptred (bashed to hell with a hammer like weapon) isle.
Great reviews by the way!
Where did you get your cannibal jack? That's my only missing piece now!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Will has shipped and will be here on the 7th.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

He looks really good in that QTVR. I wish I had the funds for him, because he looks smokin'. No pun intended.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Looks like a 3-D version of that original artwork of him in that lighting. Lovin' it! Can't wait now.

You may not have to gloss him up either, has a good shine to me in the QT vid, and man, his face has a nice look too, almost seems translucent even though I'm sure it's not.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Oh yeah. That's brilliant. I'm officially through the roof over this figure now. He can't ship soon enough.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Gotta be one of the best sixth scale figures ever made. Looks great :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Davy looks good... still wish the guy posting pictures had given us more poses, I'm a bit worried he'll be an expensive rubbery statue :lol

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Got the 15-20 day notice on Jack 2 and Davy. Jack got the axe though so Davy could come.
