we'll have to wait until the ht version comes out to make a judgement call on it but from what ive seen from the proto pics it does represent better bang for your buck imo..could be wrong will have to wait and see. Being poseable will really give it the edge i think.

I don't think it's "less detailed" then the HT fig.. I just throw the price in the face of those that say this is way better then the HT fig. :D

wel yeah it is more expensive but for the record, it commands more presence than the ht. HT one is good (well i don't really like the metal paint apps, but everything else is wonderful) but i just prefer 1/4

I've never been a fan of hot toys stuff...(coming from the guy that just bought a 1/6 tumbler:rolleyes:)....but aside from the car I've never been and will never be interested in hot toys poseable...toys. I also dont understand how some people are comparing a plastic toy to a POLYSTONE STATUE:confused: Thats like comparing a honda to a Lamborghini?....just my opinion. Anyway, their both cool in their own way.....it basically comes down to personal preference. This is why variety exists....we would all be out of a job without it.

oh...and cool vid pitu, keep doing your thing...

That is true and polystone is better looking then plastic, however there are some ht figures which are better detailed then their polystone counterparts. To me its the level of accuracy on the figure. It's not wheither its made of polystone or plastic its how accurate the figure is. For example i personally think neca's robocop figure is much more screen accurate then sideshows robocop and one's made of plastic the other is a premium format figure. One's 45 dollars the other is 245 dollars. Some may think thats crazy but thats just the way i look at this, i personally don't care if its made of rubber, plastic or polystone or wheither its labelled a toy or a statue.

I'm with you. I just think folks have a hard time accepting the idea that a high end "toy" can often times turn out looking better than a high end statue, which should be superior in every way. Trust me when I say that I really wanted the Mark I maquette to be better than the Hot Toys figure and I was prepared to spend big money for it, but IMO it just did not turn out that way at all.

I'd say high end toy, low end statue. Statues have a pretty crazy price range and varied materials, polystone is definitely the low end when you look at metals and stone and 1:1 or oversized.

Most of sideshows releases are great but some llke this fall far short of the mark(pun intended). I'm not impressed with the detail either and i think pitu mentioned it on his vid about the lack of clothing etc.
To me the sideshow statue looks unfinished. The paint app is probably whats letting it down.

spot on.

I don't understand why people keep saying this maquette is less detailed than the HT figure when you can clearly see they are both Highly detailed. I cant say which ones has more detail cause i only own the Maquette but i see people just saying this cause the maquette is not mixed media.

take a look at the maquette's chest RT and u might understand. it has ZERO detail. now look at the ht version. u can clearly see the inner mechanisms and parts that make up the chest RT. AND it lights up.

anyway, i've said it before and i'll say it again. both the maquette and 1/6 have their respective pros and cons. i admire the maquette's imposing sense of physical presence...from a certain distance. up close, the 1/6 is more impressive. :peace

personally, i think the 1/6 armour has much more attention to detail and has way better paint apps. the maquette armour's paint app is just sloppy.

SS version=caca
HT version=:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock

On a shelf, I think the SS looks saweet! Wish the arc reactor in the chest had more detail and the right arm wasnt so far from the body but sheesh- It looks pretty awesome. If you spend $320 for a Terminator PF (although awesome head sculpt also by Trevor) then tacking on a few extra bucks for the sheer size and base of this piece to me isn't rediculous imo. Im not loaded by any means, but as far as a display centerpiece for your ironman collection i dont see how you could do much better. Unless of course you have the bust or get the 1/2 scale but that IS way over priced.

I watched the video, good ^^^^ man. I know I said I wouldn't watch any of your video's till you get paid, but getting free ^^^^ almost counts, so I watched.

Keep up the good work. I now regret canceling my order.

SS version=caca
HT version=:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock

well, i wouldn't go so far as to call the ss version "caca". it's got some problems, but it sure ain't half bad on the shelf or a pedestal. very eye-catching.

but i'm fully with u that the ht version = :rock:rock:rock

i dont get FREE ^^^^ like you would think. this was a gift from sideshow for helping them at the con. which i also did last year and got nothing. I dont help them for free ^^^^ i just do it. it took us 5 hours to close down the Booth this year and i was there helping them all 5 hours. so im guessing they appritiated the Help.
Appritiated for doing this review.

Even though I'd pick the HT 1/6 figure over the maquette in this case, I wouldn't necessarily say the SS piece is "caca". I certainly would be proud to display the maquette if someone were to give it to me for free or I found one for a really, really good price.

The hot toys is a really good deal for the price but im not crazy about the 12" format. And I def couldnt stand to look at the bad sculpt of RDJ. But the hot toys version has a lot more mixed media and hanging wire that i think they could have worked into the SS version. Oh well, both look cool. SS for me in this case.

Agreed. If I came across this one at a really good price, I'd definitely buy this for my collection.

Saw the HT Mark 1 at Sideshow and it looks aweosme as well!!!! great detail work plus the chest piece looks awesome with all the detail in it! wish the sideshow one had that detail int it as well!
