Im actually looking foward to twisted metal also and several others that I wont bother mentioning because theyve been mentioned several times as well.

So I'm pretty sure my system is shot. I get about a half hour into a movie or game and then it freezes. Called cust support and got the "Didja reset the system settings?", "well, you'll have to send it in and we'll fix it for 150 bucks".... So what should I do? Just go buy a new one or send this one in?

PlayStation 3 System Software Update v3.40 Available Soon

Hi everyone, once again we’re adding new features to the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system via firmware update to ensure we’re bringing you the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible. PS3 system software update (v3.40) will be available soon, adding the PlayStation Plus subscription, enhancements to the connection between your PlayStation Network and Facebook accounts and more. Additionally, we’ll be launching system software update (v6.30) for the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system simultaneously with PS3 system software update (v3.40), adding PlayStation Plus compatibility as well as other new features.

We’ve gone ahead and provided a few highlights from PS3 firmware update (v3.40) below:

* PlayStation Plus: PlayStation Network users will be able to purchase membership to PlayStation Plus; a new subscription service on the PlayStation Network that provides you with new options to expand and enhance your gaming experience and enable you to gain an exclusive set of features and content. Friendly reminder, all of you PlayStation Network users will continue to have free access to PlayStation Network’s unmatched and expanding suite of new and exclusive features while PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive and expanding set of gaming features, content and functionality.
* Photo Gallery: A new network based photo sharing feature is now available on the Photo Gallery. The enhancement allows you to upload, browse and comment on photos on Facebook and Picasa Web Album. You can also opt to share your photos between your PlayStation Network friends as well as print photos from Photo Gallery.
* Video Editor & Uploader: Video Editor and Uploader is a new function found on the XrossMediaBar (XMB), which enables you to edit, save and upload video files stored on the PS3 system to sites such as Facebook or YouTube.
* Five Star Rating Support: Users can rate the PlayStation Store content they have purchased with one to five star ratings.
* Power Save Settings: The default setting for PS3 System Auto-Off will be set at 2 hours, providing you with additional power save options and further improving power save features on the PS3 system.

In addition to the latest features introduced in PS3 system software update (v3.40), a separate, new PlayStation Network application on Facebook.com will be made available. This builds upon what was previously launched with Trophies and the ability to publish purchases from the PlayStation Store. Now you can further integrate your PlayStation Network and Facebook accounts with this new application. The application allows you to display your PlayStation Network profile on your Facebook account, find out which of your Facebook friends have a PSN account and send them a PlayStation Network friend request, view your PSN friends’ online status and add the PlayStation Network application tab to your Facebook user profile.

I'm in the same situation man, it's a joke!

I was thinking about getting a new one but i'm opting to get it repaired and take out an extended warranty. I'd rather go with a fixed unit rather than spend money on a brand new one that could break just as easily as this one did.

I'm even thinking about selling off my games and just buying a BRD player.... I haven't the time to play many games anymore anyway.

Well, I thought about it. Just gonna send it off to be fixed. :(

...get it at best buy, then buy there service agreement for about $60 and something happens...walk in exchange walk out with a new one. Still not sure why you guys dont do this kind of stuff. I have one for my PS3 and xbox 360 and im on my 4th xbox. As I said walk in flash the papers, walk out with a new on no questions and im back at home gaming. Gonna do it again for the 360 soon so I can get one of the slims. Pretty much just waiting on the PS3 to crap out as well, so far no probs. Got it when the PS3 slims dropped so hopefully it still does last a while.

you gotta get a new warrenty each time though correct?

Wal-Mart also has a good extented warranty for $20 I belive. My friend got a PS3 there with the extended warranty and his began freezing on him and issues going online etc so after about a year and all he had to do was go to the returns, show them the papers and they gave him a new one, I don't even think the checked to make sure the serial number matched and what not.

No sir, walk in walk out, unless its getting ready to expire, but even so its cheaper than $150 and no mailing no postage anything, walk in walk out.

I think they expire after a year, but again still cheaper. Like I said for teh $60 i paid ive gotten 2 xboxes then renewed it and got another 2...so as I said give it a little more time and im going to exchange it for a 360 slim.

^^^Yeah I'll have to say the next machine I purchase I'll more than likely get at Best Buy with that warranty.

Its worth it bro, i never cared about warranties or anything til i ran into the 360 (sorry I know this is the PS3 thread) and got best buys warranty, but now that Im hearing all this stuff about the PS3s i figure its just a matter of time as well.

Anyone have any idea when the update to play 3d movies is coming out. I cant seem to find anything.

I thought 3D was in the 3.30 update way back in April. The wife is hogging the PS3 right now so I can't check the store, but I thought there were some 3D games released in June...

edit: d'oh! I can't read today. I totally missed that you specified "movies". I have no idea about that. I'd imagine it already can, but I really have no idea.
