If you've never played on an OLED screen, it'll be fine. But I think most people who own the original Vita will not get the new one. I know I was all for the new one until I read it was an LCD screen, then I lost all interest. The Vita OLED is gorgeous.

On another note, I am all for PS Vita TV. I like the idea of remote playing PS4 from any TV in the house. Will pick that up whenever it's released.

No way that's awesome. I didn't pay to much attention to it because I heard someone comparing it to Apple TV.

This pretty much makes "mobile" console-quality gaming a reality.

I suspect we won't see many handheld specific games 6-7 years from now.

I would think the opposite. If you make handheld specific games you can use them in either the handheld(which many dont want to play on) but now with the new tv device it could entice more people buy one if you have mobile only games people want.

I will say that the mobile device sounds too good to be true in some ways. That seems way to cheap to do all of that.

I just want to know if the change from OLED to LCD screen is a bad thing.

A lot of people say it's a "step down" but I've seen others say how bad the quality of the OLED screens have been. *shrugs*
IMO it definitely is a step down in hardware quality. It might just by a psychological thing, but going back and forth with my Vita/PSP/3DS I can see how much better the Vita's OLED screen is.

I thought the OLED screen on the Vita was awesome. We'll have to wait & see the side by side comparisons, it'll be interesting
:lecture Sony may have found a way to get awesome quality from a nonOLED screen and figured they could cut costs down.

I'm gonna keep my original one. Especially now that there's some good games coming out. Killzone should be waiting for me when I get home, and from what I read on another forum it really showcases the Vita's capabilities.

For a majority of people the media streaming is going to be a huge selling point. I like the fact that they have 2 units being released. One with and one without a controller and memory card. For $100 I'm definitely getting one to put in the bedroom. My 60GB PS3 died a couple of months ago, and I was holding out for Black Friday to pick up a Roku/Apple TV to put in the bedroom. Now it seems to make more sense to wait and see if this will get released here in the US.

I always think of taking my vitamins every time I see Vita mentioned.

Doesn't look that bad, but I'd have to see the new screen in motion to make a final verdict. The OLED definitely looks noticeably better IMO so I'm happy that I've already got one. The LCD screen has a "subdued" kind of look to it. Too bad Sony keeps downgrading their hardware to save $$, but I guess customers aren't exactly screaming for the OLED screen like they imagined they would. I like that they're putting it on a diet to reduce the weight, but I thought the OLED was soemthing they should've kept in.

The LCD screen while be a noticeable downgrade in person. The OLED is glorious and it's a bummer to see it going away. They only have themselves to blame for the Vita's failure. They built a great piece of hardware, but haven't done enough to get the software out there. It's too bad. This could've been the be all end all handheld if it was done right.

OLED to LCD is a horrible mis-step IMO.
The screen is beautiful on the Vita, it's what truly sets it apart.

Totally agree, and I think it's the best screen on the market right now. Going back and forth from my 3DS it's a huge difference in quality, and it's a huge step backwards for Sony to downgrade their handheld's main selling point.

~~Reading this thread kind of makes me want to run out and grab a second one as a backup. Does anyone know if the Assassin's Creed models are still readily available??
