As much as MS is saying this isn't true, their actions speak differently.

Actually, MS said it was true on paper but wouldn't matter in real world performance.

Really, then why overclock your CPU if it doen't matter. :monkey4

AMD must be getting **** from MS for making theirs slower/weaker than the PS4. :rotfl

What a weird business partnership this entire matter is.

I don't like that statement though of developers dumping down to Xbox speed though. :(

Games (at least online games) on the Xbox One could be improved using their cloud, so the capability isn't entirely based off the console hardware.

I also kind of doubt the PS4 is that much better, their processors are very close to each other.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Performance Compared by Devs
Claims the PlayStation 4 is up to 50 per cent faster.

A number of "high-level game development sources" have claimed the PlayStation 4 is around 50 per cent faster than the Xbox One, with the difference being both "significant" and "obvious".
Edge conducted interviews with anonymous industry insiders, most of whom agreed that the memory reads on Sony's console are up to 50 per cent quicker, with the Arithmetic Logic Unit also being about 50 per cent faster.

This led a developer to claim that, without optimisation, a platform-agnostic dev build would appear around*30FPS in 1920×1080 on PlayStation 4, but at a slower "20-something" FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. Microsoft is aware of the issue, and the recent changes to the console's GPU were done in a bid to combat this. Despite this, a developer has downplayed the real effects that will be felt by the move, saying "The clock speed update is not significant, it does not change things that much...Of course, something is better than nothing."

Despite the launch of both consoles due to happen in a couple of months, things can still change. The graphics driver in particular has been singled out as a sticking point for both consoles, though once again sources have said Microsoft is lagging slightly.
The Xbox One does have some advantages over the PS4 however, with one dev explaining, "Let’s say you are using procedural generation or raytracing via parametric surfaces – that is, using a lot of memory writes and not much texturing or ALU – Xbox One will be likely be faster."
Fans have been trying to deduce which console will contain more raw power since they were announced. Just last week, Microsoft's director of product planning Albert Penello argued claims that the PS4 offered better performance that the Xbox One were misguided.*Despite the supposed gap in performance, everyone's agreed that it'll be near-impossible to notice in multiplatform launch window titles, most of which will near-identical due to time constraints.
While all the developers seem to suggest the PS4 will have greater potential in terms of performance, how this translates into reality remains to be seen. From a financial stand-point for developers, it makes more sense to work optimise towards the lowest common denominator (in this case, allegedly Xbox One) rather than create two different versions.

The Xbox One is due to launch globally on November 22, while the PlayStation 4 will be available in North America on November 15 and in Europe on November 29.

I find it interesting that and dev would be stupid enough to come out and say something like that anonymously or not. So you want to makes games for both huge companies but your going to come out and slam one potentially cutting off a large % of your users.

I think it's fair to say Cloud Power is being over played by MS.
It isn't going to be a panacea for all of XB1's short comings.
Most game processing is going to need to be instaneous whereas taking a detour through the Cloud will lag, I don't care how fast yer internetz is.

Hence the anonymous part I'm guessing.

In other words, it doesn't matter how much more "significant" or "obvious" the speed advantage of the PS4 has over the Xbox1, multiplatform games will play the same.

Microsoft is such a troll. :rotfl

More than past generations we'll have to wait to see what the reviews say about a given platforms version before purchasing.
"Destiny" for instance is being debugged on PS4 dev kits which tends to make me believe that version will be the most stable and optimized.
Bungie isnt beholding to MS anymore.

But DICE is. :(

I removed the Order and Drive Club and replaced them with Knack and Battlefield. I also have Killzone and WatchDogs. The system is all paid off. :rock

It makes you wonder how much truth is actually in it. Your got an unknown source saying the Ps4 is so much more powerful but then your got a well known named source John Carmack saying the two consoles are functionally identical in terms of what they can do. Only time will tell, I'm getting both I've had every PS since launch & only got into Xbox late because I always felt like I was missing on not owning both.

Well this sucks. I was always planning on getting the Ps4 a few months after launch but the Vita Tv got me really excited for the Ps4 so I stuck a deposit down on one but now CVG announces this :(

Still I was always going to get one anyways so I shouldn't moan

Hopefully I can import one. I'm guessing they'll still work in the UK

That sucks because I really wanted one too. I read another thing on Kotaku that said they weren't planning on it so that gave me some hope they'd possibly change their minds.

Yeah with the excitement the Vita Tv has been gathering Sony would be mad not to release it here in the west, it may even help boost Vita sales.

Talking about Vita, Sony have no current plans of releasing the new Slim Ver over here either but the original seems better from what I understand, I can't imagine the new LCD screen being better than the OLED screen so that's not much of a loss.

I stupidly sat on my rump when the PS4 first went up for order, does anyone know of anyplace (in the US) that is still offering this for pre-order? Pre-orders seem to be sold out everywhere.

I would be surprised if you can't get one on release.

"We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 [November 29 in the UK] and through the holidays, so we're holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one"
