Where did you get those numbers from? Why does every console player think that a good gaming PC costs millions?

We’ve gotten some images of the official Battlefield 4 PC that’ll be present at GamesCom. This ultra high-end system sports dual AMD Radeon 7970 graphics cards — some of the most powerful graphics cards in the world. In addition, the PC has an 8-core AMD CPU and 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. The graphics cards alone sport 6 GB of GDDR5 RAM. This setup is somewhat similar to the PCs used at E3, which cost over $4,000 each. We’re sure the GamesCom PCs are a bit cheaper, as they use cheaper graphics cards and less RAM as well (E3 systems had 16 GB).

Previously we reported that Battlefield 4 will be AMD optimized, since both next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft run on AMD hardware. If you’re looking to upgrade your system for BF4, check out our Best graphics cards for Battlefield 4 feature.

AMD reveals the $4,000 PC that ran Battlefield 4 at E3

The PCs that powered BF4 at E3 retailed close to $4,000 each, and featured an 8 core CPU and dual HD 7970 graphics cards.

JUNE 15TH, 2013 IN NEWS

AMD and DICE are partnering for Battlefield 4, as AMD’s Radeon card ran the very first singleplayer demo we saw a few months back. Now it’s been revealed that AMD supplied over 64 ultra high-end PCs for the E3 show floor.

AMD has revealed the PC hardware that powered Battlefield 4 at E3, and they’re quite expensive machines — the gaming PCs were some of the most powerful ever made, and each would retail close to $4,000.

On the CPU side, they sported an FX 8350 CPU, which has 8 cores and runs at 4 GHz, paired with 12 GB of DDR3 RAM.

On the graphics card side, the gaming rigs featured dual Radeon HD 7970 graphics cards in Crossfire setup. Those cards retail for $1,000 a piece, and feature 6 GB RAM each.
All that powerful hardware made sure that Battlefield 4 ran at a steady, smooth framerate at the highest settings during the show. And we’re sure DICE had quite a power bill at the end of E3.

AMD also released a photo of the fancy gaming rig, which you can find below:

Of course if they're doing demos they will have super expensive hardware.

Why not just demo on a PC equivalent of the power of a PS4 then.

Would look the same.

Wouldn't that be a $400.00 PC?

Or are you saying that a 4K PC is needed to show off a PS4 game that people will expect to look like that when the PS4 is released.

This. The average gaming PC is a fraction of that price and capable of solid performances of any game. It just makes sense to take no chances at a show like E3 and bring the big dogs.

Sony has never shied away from lying about there consoles before. Why start now? This will be a small lie though. The differences will be negligible. These super rigs are just guaranteeing and crazy high frame rate mostly.

There isn't an equivalent. Even if you used the same hardware, games running on a PC will run differently than on a console. At E3 both Sony and Microsoft used PC's in place of their consoles to both demo games during their press events and on the show floor.

A 2K-4K PC better have nicer graphics than a PS4.

I paid 2k for mine in Sweden where everything is more expensive, in comparison a PS4 is priced at 600 dollars, the US = 400. I bought it 2 years ago and it still has better graphics than a PS4! What's nice about PC games is that they're cheaper, so even if you buy an expensive PC it's like you're getting a discount on every single game plus the graphics are better with a higher pixel resolution capability.

I'm not complaining or trying to be anti-PS4 here, I think the graphics on the PS4 looks fantastic and I'm glad they're at least better than the graphics on the PS3/X360. But they are deceiving, since they are being played on PC's. There'll be some minor differences when these are played on the actual PS4 and not for the better I'm afraid.

Of course if they're doing demos they will have super expensive hardware.

Plus, the hardware on PC's aren't only powering a gaming console, like the PS4, it's powering an entire system that can do way more than a console.

Cable on consoles just doesn't get me excited......I haven't used cable in 4 years so come on! No one is gonna care too much

Me either. Tbh, they can keep almost all of the extra functions for mine. I just want to game on it. I have smart TV and a computer, so that other stuff is covered just fine. I get why they have to cover everything though. It's just expected now.

Which is why Sony has chosen not to focus on these aspects of the PS4, unlike Microsoft.

Its good to have options, and I am sure PS fans will remind us: its not behind the paywall...too!

For myself, its all about games, playing blu ray movies and that's it

Hmm, I must have missed where the ps4 is mostly grey? I don't really dig that. Unless I'm seeing it wrong.

It's matte black and glossy black, like the controller... and the XBone.

It does look really weird. :\

Having the TV features aren't bad--being able to do extra stuff is good. The concern though is how much they're spending on that that they could have spent on gaming development.
