A hardware revision within the year? What do you base that on? Certainly not history or competition. The PSP didn't get a revision until 3 years after the original launch. The 3DS is already 1 year in, no new hardware update announcements.

As for the price drop, I predict that they'll eliminate that Wi-Fi Only version and drop the price of the 3G/Wi-Fi version $50-70 by November. Maybe they'll release new colors and a couple bundles.

Even worse, when you wake the device again, it doesn't immediately reconnect to wi-fi or PSN, you have to launch an app that accesses the network first! And for each app that connects to PSN, you have to wait for it to connect.

Weird, I do not have to launch any app for my non 3g version. Takes a few seconds to reconnect and PSN is up and running......

It does this immediately when you press the PS button when it's in standby (when the PS button is not lit and the screen is dark)?

More likely they will phase out the 3G version. A quick survey at stores today revealed the Wifi versions were sold out while the 3G were collecting dust on the shelves.

Re: Playstation Vita (formerly PSP2/NGP - $250)

Did they open it? Jerkoffs.

Wasn't opened but you'd think something from amazon is probably something important. Maybe they expected me to come and get it but without a card from the postman it made me think it was lost or stolen. Postal service is as much to blame. Oh well I can send it back at no cost. Just annoying that I waited so long and gave up so bought another at a higher price. At least it's awesome though. Rayman is incredible. Uncharted is good technically but there's no epic set pieces. I really hope it gets good third party support.

Not standby; i do the full shut off - I tried just now, and from the time I turn it on to connect to PSN, maybe 20 sec tops

I never leave it in just stand by mode, so maybe that is the difference for some reason? I dunno

You and every single human being in Japan. I need try this one again. I played the original and thought it sucked, but it's HUGE in Japan and pretty popular in the US too.

I love the series, I logged over 1500+ hours on Monster Hunter Unite. I currently have a hacked PSP with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd running on it (only out in Japan). 95% of the game is in English with the patch, but I still want the real deal in the US. There's something about it being official.

I had a similar situation happen. My neighbor got my package too and had it for almost a week. It was only a book though but I was still furious. I can't imagine if it'd been a $300 item.

Man, that's crazy. Ive never put that many hours into ...anything! What do you do for 1500 hours? Do you play it by yourself or online?

Golden abyss is my second favourite in the series after uncharted 2. It's such a great game. I'm really enjoying the story. It doesn't have the epicness of 2 and 3 but the shooting mechanics are superior on this and I think there is a better balance of puzzles, platforming and shooting. It just looks so beautiful although there are some pixelated fire and splash effects. Bend have done a fantastic job with this game IMO and I hope more are made.

I'll echo Ash's sentiment. Golden Abyss is the second best of the series, and superior to Drake's Deception, regardless of it not having equal graphical prowess or cinematic set pieces.

It's the gameplay that matters most, and Golden Abyss has a balance in it's shooting, climbing, treasure-finding, puzzle-solving and whatever else. I'm on chapter 18 now, and the game really kicks into high gear around this point.

That's not to say that U:GA doesn't look great, it does, aside from some jagged edges. There are moments where I am astounded that I am seeing this quality of graphics on a handheld device. I've been taking screen shots of the game as I go along using the PS button + Start. It's easy to upload, thanks to the Flickr app:

I finally got a chance to play with the Vita at Best Buy yesterday. Normally I had to wait for a line of kids to put it down, but there was nobody there when I arrived. I thought it was incredibly light compared to the 3DS, but that might just be me. I really liked the controls while playing the Uncharted demo.

The OS was awesome, and very iOS-like to me, and my verdict is in that I must now have one. I'll start shopping around for game deals, but I'll wait until next month to get one as I have my B-day card to pull on the GF, and I think I'll ask her to get it for me.

~~Are they still having B2G1 on the games??
