I'm pretty sure this isn't getting a revision in design anytime soon. It feels great. The size is perfect.

The PSP got revisions to combat piracy and address a few form factors. The specs are all the same. I honestly do not see PSV shrinking much due to touch pad and internal components already. The OLED screen is 5" and the controls are small enough as is.

We'll see a price drop this year I'm sure. This fall at the latest.
More likely we'll see games bundled with it so technically the hardware is cheaper with the games split for this holiday season.

They'll revise it. If only for the reason of making people who already bought one buy another one. Double dipping is a staple in the entertainment industry. I guarantee they will make some sort of alteration or add a feature that will make people want to buy another.

It is inevitable.

Yeah, I can already imagine a revision include the following:

-video output
-internal storage
-rumble (why this isn't in modern handhelds is boggling)
-better camera

.....3D screen. Improbable, but would be a huge surprise.

It really doesn't have to be lighter or thinner though.

In fact, I'm POSITIVE they left out features with the intention of releasing said features in a revision to get people to re-buy.

Sony released a PR stating that Vita has sold a total of 1.2 million units worldwide as of this morning.

Not great, not bad. Somewhere in the middle.

Well, they haven't gone into specific numbers per region, but we can break it down using what we already know about the Japanese sales since launch. ~600k have sold in Japan since, so that only leaves 600k spread across every other region. This includes the US, UK, HK-Asia, Australia.

I don't think the number is really anything amazing if you compare it with past handheld launch sales. Chalk it up to a changing market and lowered expectations, if Sony really considers this a success. Relatively though, in today's market, it's a good indicator of Vita's viability, I think. The test will be how it'll continue to sell. Vita dropped considerably after its first week in Japan. We're talking about going from 6-digit sales to 5.

We'll see.

I really hope it sells well in the rest of the world. Sure, japan is a bust, but that country is a little region specific. They certainty don't predict sales outside that one area

Japan was the PSP's bread and butter. The Vita should've done much better there than most other regions.

You have to understand the power of Monster Hunter and the hold it has over Japan. It played a tremendous factor in the PSP's success in that country.

Monster Hunter is a series of action RPGs that involve the hunting/capturing of fantasy creatures as well as the gathering of supplies to craft weapons and other goodies. The gameplay is very methodical, a lot like an mmorpg, but not as massively multiplayer. It's quite addicting when played with others. It really became an obsession in Japan.

I remember playing the second PSP MH game back in 08. It was fun, but i didnt know a lot of people who played. I'm not really a fan of the series, but then again I'm not really into huge mmo-type games nowadays. Too much of a time sink.

I think this vid will give you a pretty good idea of what an MH game entails:

Currently, the series jumped from PSP to 3DS exclusively, for the time being. There have been rumors that it'll make it's way back to Vita. Sony better hope it does.

I have the Vita on preorder I have been thinking of canceling but not
sure yet. I do like the remote play feature but I heard alot of the games dont work right now.

Just not sure if I want to spend the money on this
