Sidious seem to be most logical. They should then make the red robes Mace fight version for obvious reasons. We have Anakin, Kit, and Mace to go with him. All we are missing from that scene are Agen and Saesee, who'll will we likely get now just to finish Mace's group. That would make a nice display with Mace and the other three about to arrest Palpatine.

I mentioned this before, but I'll say it again. If they make another Luke Skywalker, wouldn''t he be in the "HOTR" catagory and NOT the "OOTJ" catagory?

I know it's too early for another Luke but I would rather have a Luke in any other costume (Tatooine, Ceremonial, Dagobah, Hoth, X-Wing Pilot you name it), than a Lando. Sorry, but there is jsimply no interesting dimension to Lando's character... his manuver in the Battle of Tin-Nab not withstanding.

If Lando is offered, he might be the one that will give me pause... and might end my buying streak.

For me Star Wars is about the Jedi versus the Sith not about rogues posing as heroes.

Protozaius, I think it is interesting that the Jedi and Sith are the focus of the line for you, as I always loved the oddball characters that don't have much chance of being made by Sideshow. As much as I want the Jedi and Heroes, it is the weird-a$$ alien figures that I always found interesting, but I was a huge fan of special effects, and so I was always drawn to those creatures and such. I am actually looking forward to Kit most from what is on order so far, and give me bizarre looking creatures any day of the week!:D

Such differing opinions! :)

I wasn't too hot on the Jedi in the PT. In fact, I dislike the Jedi overall now, and I wouldn't have said that prior to the prequels. I found them all stiff and boring.

I'll like the Sith line more than the Jedi line, even though the only one I'll buy for sure is Vader.

I love characters like Han and Lando, especially Han. He was sort of the heart of the originals for me.

I've never been interested in all of the background aliens. But special effects and such are considered "bonuses" by me. I concentrate more on the individual characters and storylines. I suppose that's one of the reasons I don't have much love for the prequels.

Of Leia and Lando, I prefer a Bespin Leia first. But I'll take Lando too (hopefully dressed as he was on Cloud City).

I'd actually like a Heroes of the Rebellion figure to come out next, I don't particularly like Qui-Gon, he was rather a boring character and was only in the first movie. Yeah, Liam Neeson did do the acting rather well, but I just don't like the character.

My hope is for a Leia figure to go with Han. It would seem rather strange to start off the Heroes line with only one figure and leave it there past several other figure releases.

I have to say I agree with Josette and Darthviper as far as lack of characterization in the PT. I mean, Han had an interesting story going on. But what was Obi-Wan's story? He really didn't have one. No dilemma other than the confrontation with his friend in the final act of ROTS.

I think that this is why the OT is so popular. It caters to a whole slew of differing tastes. The PT is popular among fans who are interested in how the Jedi operated during their zenith, how they ultimately lost that power and the rise of the Empire. But more importantly, these PT fans have to be open to Lucas' intrepretation of those events. That intrepretation has been a long time coming (20 years!) long enough for people to crystalize in their own ideas on how the chips fall. Personally, I love the prequels for it's depiction of the above events. I find it fascinating how a democracy can (and has in history) move effortlessly into a dictatorship. In my book, Lucas handled that plot point with slippery skill. Plus, the prequels afforded Ian McDiarmid the opportunity to add dimension to his role as the galaxy's most formidable villian.

Also, in the end, given time the prequels will gain popularity. There's one element that is missing in regard to the prequels. Nostalgia. My son loves the prequels. He has no preconceived ideas of the events surrounding the prequels... unlike my generation of fans. And when he gets to be of an age where he too will have some disposable income, the vote he casts with his dollars will tilt the scales in the prequels favor.

Nostalgia... it has elevated movies such as Clash of the Titans, Tron and Goonies... films that were slammed by sci-fi fantasy geeks when they first were relased. Even Jedi and the whole Ewok population has been elevated in this way. We have already seen an increase interest in Qui-Gon as a character... and it's only been 7 years.

It's definitely not about nastalgia for me. I didn't like Star Wars as a child, and I was born in 1983, so I didn't grow up with them as a part of my childhood. I didn't seriously sit down and watch the original trilogy until I was in my teens. I just think the prequels were poorly done from a character and storytelling standpoint. :shrugs: The politics (Paplatine & his rise through the Republic) are the only part of the films that I think works on some level. The personal (like Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan) needed much more than was given to it. The Jedi....I felt nothing for them as people/living beings.

It will be interesting how the prequels will be thought of in the future...but I'll not say whether or not they're held up like the original. Anything's possible.

YES!!

So many people, I think, were disappointed, if not angry, at TPM and AOTC because they held no nostalgic value to them.

My 14 year-old daughter is like your son in that she prefers the prequels, esp. "Sith". Her favorite part is in "Jedi" where Ani is redeamed but that wouldn't be the case at all without the prequels. Vader is just Vader without Hayden Christensen.

Interestingly, she doesn't like the f/x in Empire at all. In her eye it looks fake, cheap even.

I think Lucas is 3 for 6:

ANH, ESB and ROTS were good.

PM, AOTC and ROTJ were not.

Not a bad score if you consider other franchises like Bond or the Matrix.

Good points. As you say, time will tell...

Nostalgia or not, I still think the Ewoks suck.

You can't imagine at what extreme level that I agree with your "generous" assessment of the Ewok population. When I spoke about them in the above posting I was stating that their stature has been elevated in the Star Wars community in general.

Heck, there are people hotly anticipating the Attaku$$$ Wicket!:horror :horror :horror

But to each is own. I cast no stones. I just sit back and smile.:D

I rate them:
ANH, ROTS, ESB, AOTC, PM AND ROTJ

Yet, even the lesser three in your list have scenes or elements that I find interesting, compelling and infinitely watchable. Which makes this film saga very unique. Don't get me started on the Matrix.

Phantom Menace has the first kick a** Jedi duel. Coupled with the intense "Duel of the Fates" track, I could watch that final fight endlessly. In fact... I'll be back, I've got to see it again!

Attack of the Clones has that arena sequence that starts the Clone Wars. I grew up watching all those Harryhausen films and it was fun to see those kind of sequences inserted in the Star Wars galaxy. And that Clone War sequence made the wait for Revenge of the Sith thast much more painful.

Return of the Jedi with all it's faults (it's still my least favorite of the Star Wars films) it still has Luke's comfortation with the Emperor. Say what you will about the actor, but Mark Hamill nailed the moment with his "I am a Jedi" line. That still chokes me up.
