Hi Nuri,

Yeah it has been a while, have not been interested in many pieces until now.

Yeah me neither to be honest. This is the first statue I've received since Blitzway Bruce Lee and it was ordered well over a year ago lol.

OMG that looks better than I thought it would! It blows Akuma away! :horror

How much did that set you back?

Yeah man its an impressive piece! I was very impressed when I unboxed it. They've certainly come a long way since that Akuma you posted.

It was $350 plus post, with an edition size of 250. Can't remember how much postage was but it's very expensive.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record because I agree with most here that this is still a beautiful piece and the paint job is beautiful to, but it doesn't look as realistic as the paint job on Chronic Collectables Arnie BD one. Like I said before it still looks like the same style seen on the Street Fighter Characters, that being said, I am still tempted to get it. :)

Even though I love this piece, I actually agree with you. The paint job does look a little flat and lacks depth. A few on Statue Forum shared the same concerns but Jerry assured everyone that it was the bad lighting from the event and amateur pics, and said that everyone will be blown away when they see it in person. It was reassuring and I trust his judgement that it'll be good. Besides, it's not finished yet. One thing I like about PCS is that they listen to fan feedback and make changes if necessary. Not many companies do that.

So Popculture in Melbourne isn't getting this in?

I wouldn't hold my breath to be honest. They seem to be knocking back a lot of the more expensive pieces lately, as they can't offer them at a competitive price.

I do remember them carrying 1:3 Akuma, but they had a very small number of them and they sold out in the blink of an eye, and they went up for sale a fair while after PCS sold out, so it was a gamble.

I missed out on 1:3 Sub Zero and tried to get one off Pop Cultcha but they disn't carry it.

Most people tend to order off PCS direct anyway to get the exclusive. I'm not sure if this piece will have an exclusive, doubt it will. Either way, your best bet is to order off PCS direct if you wanna secure one, as their pieces do sell insanely quick.

Oh wow.

Ahh cool not a bad price at all.

Hmm ok well even if they don't it still looks fine as it has different tones and a nice smooth paint job overall, but yeah if they can paint it more realistic like Chroncicle's one then it would be pretty much perfect.

So far Prime one and PCS are the only ones I know that do it.

Yes but unless Jerry marks a low value on this, the custom fees for getting this shipped here will be astronomical! :horror

Yes but with the conversion rate from USD to AUD it will most likely end up being over 1k AUD. So i am guessing the custom fees will be at least a few hundred. :(

Should come in just under a grand. They might declare lowerol value anyway. What you can also do is check with customs how much the duty will cost.

Well I know from experience that anthing over 1k AUD, customs charges a few hundred. The only way to avoid custom fees for this is if they declare a low value, unless the Aussie dollar becomes higher than the US one again, which doesn't look likely.

Be advised that Australian customs counts both the product and the shipping cost combined when calculating whether something is over or under the thousand dollar limit.

Also be advised that the government is still trying to lower the customs limit, due to certain big business pressures, despite the fact that it would cost them more in processing lowered amounts than they would actually gain in customs charges.

You have to pay $50 just for the privilege of filling out the customs payment forms.
My experience is there is very little IP left there and they couldn't answer any of my questions or give me total cost and kept referring me to private brokers where I could pay them even more to work out the customs number. That and they just keep referring you back to their own website and a ton of links, many of which don't work.

Basically if something is just over $1000 (including shipping) it'll likely be $250 more in fees/duties/GST ....

Darkavatar - no idea about Popcultcha

Their answer on Blitzway's Rocky2 was 'maybe, keep looking on the site!' which is not very helpful.
Glad I didn't wait and ordered direct cause that's now sold out.

I would be happy to order from Popcultcha though if they put it up.

Really? They told me the opposite when I was trying to get out of the fees, they said if shipping is what making it over 1 k then we will not count that, they said they only look at the value of the item on the customs declaration form. However, that was a few years ago, they might have changed their policy now. :dunno

Yep unfortunately.

Did you order direct from Blitzway? At least shipping won't cost that much since it is only 1/4 scale.

Well hopefully they do.

Well, they counted shipping when I last got stung, and my father, who as a musicisn used to import a lot of guitars and amps, also got caught out that way, so no idea what the deal is. This is also a few years back, so who knows. Customs do have discretionary powers when it comes is when and how to apply these things, so maybe you got lucky and/or we got unlucky on that count. Like I said, who knows?

And SAB is right, dealing with customs at all, even on the best of days, is usually a nightmare of confusion and repetition. And it could be about to get a whole lot worse, becaise back before the leadership coup, the Hockey/Abbott Government did this last August:

Online $1000 GST-Free Threshold Abolished: Overseas Online Shopping To Become 10% More Expensive

A consensus between state and federal treasurers today during tax reform talks means that all purchases made overseas — through popular online shopping websites like Amazon, Book Depository and NewEgg, as well as any traditional methods like mail order — will incur a 10 per cent GST charge, completely abolishing the existing $1000 threshold.

The Treasurer, Joe Hockey, says that the agreement means all overseas purchases will be taxed at the full 10 per cent GST rate, as of July 1, 2017. At the moment, no information on the enforcement or revenue collection of the GST component of overseas purchases is available; today’s agreement is likely in principle rather than in any exhaustive detail.

I haven't heard anything much about it since, and hopefully it falls by the wayside, but it is another thing to keep in mind as far as pre-orders go, as from middle of next year we may very well be up for 10% of everything imported, and there is no guarantee that other fees for higher price items won't still be attached as well, especially as no one seems to know at this point what the exact plan is, beyond abolishing the threshold to please Gerry Harvey. But it is known not to be financially viable, meaning it will cost more to implement than the amount of money it will raise, so they'll have to make extra money for the scheme somewhere, which usually means added fees on top for certain imports, based on either price or type of content (or both).

Wow that really sucks, sorry to hear that, I wonder if it is in writing on what they do on their website?

Oh great. :thud:

Still doesn't sound good though. :(

Just an FYI, for those of you from Australia who were interested in this and wondering if Pop Cultcha will sell it (and what price), they recently ordered 12 pieces of PCS's 1/3 Ryu statue (which officially goes on sale on PCS website on Monday US time) and were selling them for 1400 each. PCS is selling them for 900 plus shipping. There's a good chance they'll get Conan too and I'd say it will probably be a similar price point.

Thank you.
Not sure how so many of these statue threads seem to be all us Aussies discussing places to buy ....but I like it :)

Hahaha same here. I ordered Ryu...still haven't decided if I'll order Conan. Might watch the movie this weekend and see how I feel about it lol. I haven't seen it since I was a little kid so I don't really remember it, but I love Arnie so I'm keen.
