Chris is just finishing up the House commission, so I think he should be getting some progress done on this one too. This commission started shortly after the House one did.

But not all commissions are going in order. I've heard others say that their commission was bumped to the front due to payments made and such. Nothing against Chris, he just shouldn't have taken on so many commissions at once.

True, but I'm going on what Chris has said and his projections. He mentioned he was in progress of getting these sculpts close to completion. I do believe he's taken on too many commissions all at once too, but as long as I get a good head sculpt I'm happy.

I don't think that's the problem, the problem is him not updating us. At all!

If we knew what was going on we would not be in this state.

Don't worry, be happy!

Chris will get to us. As long as there will be finished head sculpts from him, everything will be fine. After all, my stuffs won't be ready until sometime in July.

Chris has been a reliable guy with his commissions. The House and Star Trek commissions are my first ordering from him, so his lack of updates have had me a little worried, but with the completion of House I feel more secure. I have a strong feeling he will be coming through for us in the next couple months, so I wouldn't worry. Someone can always try nagging his Website, though myself personally, I don't want to bother the guy.

As one of the few people around who owns a set of the Scifimetropolis heads, I honestly think people will be kicking themselves if they don't jump on that train. Mr. Howes does really nice work. Apparently he is really busy with "real" work if it is taking him this long to get to this commission. While the SFM head is priced higher than the Chris Howes offering, it's money well spent for the quality product you will receive. Plus if the Spock goes over well for SFM they may offer the other five heads that have already been sculpted. The sculptors have told me they want to do more characters from that universe, but they are in no hurry as the sculpts would just be for their private collection. If they had a market to sell the sculpts they might be more inclined to make them a priority.

This is correct. If the Spock offer falls flat then the few that have these heads will be the few who have these heads. This is becoming a problem thru a number of lines, folks complain about not having this or that but thats it as far as they participate - complaining. I received a number of inquiries into folks being able to acquire the SFM sculpts way back when I first posted them. Now they are available, or at least starting to be. Yes, the price is steeper than buying something site unseen. The quality is incredible, the sculptors among the best available and turnaround is said to be days from when a total is reached. Days. How long have some of these "custom" head threads been around now? Do what you wish, but please remember that this is a limited window of opportunity.

I'd be a lot more enthusiastic about buying those if I hadn't paid into this commission several months ago. I just can't justify it now, unfortunately. And it's also true that they are considerably more expensive than the Howes ones (assuming we ever get them).

Same here!

Plus if I were sure the other heads become available, I may jump, but since I want the whole crew, I wouldn't know what to do with a lonesome Spock! Now, if they had released them all together...

Spock is fantastic, but Kirk and McCoy still need work IMHO.
Still, if I hadn't already committed to Howe's sculpts, I would definitely get the SFM Spock.
On the other hand, if Howes doesn't at least post an answer here as to a new, realistic ETA on this project, I think he would understand if some of us asked for our money back.

At this point I think “With so much on his plate” Chris should do the proper thing and offer refunds to those who want one, I don’t think that’s unreasonable at this stage in this project.
The SFM heads are one of those “dream sets” that I believe no one was expecting to ever be available, and now there’s one available and a chance to have the rest of them…Speaking as a sculptor that has been overwhelmed with work a few times offering a refund is what I would do.

People don't want to commit to Spock, could you imagine the rants for the ost of a set all at once? :horror

Spock is first, yes, but that doesn't mean the others wouldn't follow, and possibly get tweaked if the interest was shown. McCoy is actually quite good in hand.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. People are mainly reluctant to commit to Spock because they don't know if the rest of the sculpts will be forthcoming. I wouldn't expect complaints if they released them all.

I don't understand why everyone is getting out the pitch forks here. Chris made it pretty clear he was pretty backed up when he took the commission:
Obviously, these will be in round 2 starting in January

So it's been 3 and a half months by my count. Factor in that he's not sculpting just one head, but three and how he's mentioned several times his job comes first, this second and you must have had your heads in la la land if you thought he was going to pump these things out like clockwork. I don't mean to sound like a Howes cheerleader. Has anyone PM'd him lately? Anything?

Wow, a whole TOS gang... I like to add the following so I can confuse everyone even further. What happens to the uniforms and accessories if the whole crew is available from SFM? Another commission to make a whole set of uniforms? (Hate to say it, their uniforms are TERRIBLE even as prototypes. Ours are GOOD! you will see them very soon.) Uniforms from different source are not going to be the same. Maybe the material can be matched but big problems for the rest. BTW, FYI, all design materials, samples, molds, prototypes, defects, left over materials, and anything related to this production, will be distoryed upon delievery of this order (this suppose to be done right in front of me - is part of the agreement). Therefore, I can't order more afterwards.

Maybe I should have design the TOS uniforms like what DID did to the WW2 german uniforms, with insignia as "self put on item".

Anyway, I don't mind having 2 or even 3 sets of the 3 kings. Since I rotate my collections every month, I don't mind changing the head sculpts at the same time. BTW, I bought a few sets of Nazi uniforms while I was in China. Don't you think these outfits are fun to put on to the 3 kings once in a while? For me, the ST figures will be the center of my collection. If I am able to make the captain's chair, that will be really really cool. I can't afford to buy the 1:1 captain's chair, but at least my ACTION FIGURES can. Ha Ha

Pitch forks? That's a bit uncalled for. Pitch forks implies anger and hostility. What I was suggesting is to let the people who want to get their money back ask for it.

Chris at one count has taken on over 25 head sculpt commissions, a lot of them he’s taken money for starting back around October/November of last year.

It’s not an issue of “pumping out heads like clockwork” those who want to wait for Chris are welcome to wait as long as they want. But the refund option should be given to those who want it.

No anger or hostility involved just plain and simple good business.

What heads are those Nanjin? They look great in the german uniforms... sorry if they've already been identified I fell behind with this thread :monkey3

Wow, those do look like great heads!

Nanjin, maybe you should consider having the design materials delivered into your custody? That way if we get, say, the Scotty head from SFM you could make a red uniform? I really love SFM's Scotty, they really nailed him.
