On BSN two members have problems with their RS Scout lids and sent them for replacement/repaint because of sloppy paint, overspray of black over white and viceversa. Not encouraging... :(

Oh no. Were they weathered? Or clean? I ordered clean, so I don't need any black spray on mine. Did they say how the build quality was?
I hope wave 2 ships soon. I'll be in CA & AZ for the first half of May, & I'll be pissed if I'm not here to receive this. I haven't received any emails from them yet.

The messages:

1. "Well, received mine this morning (unfortunately not able to post any pictures) and there's good news and bad (this refers to my example, can't obviously speak for the others that people will receive).

Good points:
Closet example you'll get to the real thing, so RS should be congratulated for making this available.
Generally well constructed, visor lifts and seams filled and sanded well.
Painting is colour accurate and decals look good.
Nice, correct shade of visor.
Overall an impressive replica that includes a nice stand and certificate.

Not so good points:
QC lacking meaning there was white overspray over the black and grey of the snout.
Black overspray getting on to the white of the helmet (inadequate masking).
Helmet not brushed down before painting the helmet, meaning there are bits of dust and plastic residue trapped on the surface, under the paint. If you try to remove these you get black spots where the primer shows through.
Tamiya piece poorly moulded with bubble holes in the casting.
Strange matt surface that in some parts looks like it's been rubbed over with heavy duty sandpaper.
Head band kit is not accurate.

So despite the moaning, am I pleased?
Yes and no.
I'm very pleased to own one of these and there's no doubt it's impressive and as screen accurate as we're likely to get.
For the money, however, I expect a pretty flawless piece that has been through QC before being sent and certainly with a better paint job.

As it turns out, I've decided to sent it back to RS as some of these problems (like paint overspray) are not something I am happy to leave.
When it returns, I'll hopefully be able to provide a more positive update
."

2. "I'm returning mine. Scratches over the paint with primer showing. Scratched visor. Faceplate isn't flush to the back section so doesn't sit properly. Dirty fingerprint marks over it and flecks under the paint in a lot of places. 15 month wait for this."

Well, that's disappointing. Hopefully wave 2 will be improved. Has yours been shipped yet? I'm really waiting on your reviews. They're gonna calm me down... or freak me out.

I hope RS addresses these issues before continuing.
This is unacceptable from a company which takes pride in being the best at creating replica props.

Woo...........Sounds terrible, Gents! I think they can do it much more better hopefully........

Well.......just custom my Vintage Rubies then.:lol12821411_10156640487165134_8043127868520318742_n.jpg

Finally got my hands on a reasonably priced Master Replicas Force FX Vader ESB lightsaber. I wanted to have it on display as just the hilt so today dismantled it and removed the blade; and as it's a DIN style plug it's easy to plug the blade in again if needed, and stays in pretty well.

It needs a bit of TLC as the clamp was scratched trying to remove the retaining pin, and I had to cut the pin as it would not come out. It's also got slightly sticky grips, which seems to be a common problem, so may need them replacing too.

Just need a stand for it now as the FFX stand is too wide. For now it'll sit on top of the case for my ATA Works ANH helmet alongside my Doopydoo's heavily modified E-11 blaster.

I'm also looking for a DIN style plug in LED if one exists so it still has the option to light up without the blade, but all I've found so far are conversion kits which require swapping out the blade holder section; I'd rather keep it as original as possible. And I'm eyeing up a Rubies Deluxe Darth Vader helmet as a cheap helmet to display with the lightsaber, but after getting a so called "deluxe" First Order helmet a few weeks ago and finding it's too small and needs a lot of work to look even passable (luckily it was cheap, about 1/2 RRP here in the UK), I'm not sure if the Rubies is worth the hassle.

ageofstrife, let me know if you have success replacing the grips on you Vader Hilt. My grips got real nasty sticky and the glue dried out a bit so the grips came off real easy. Now I need to replace them, but I have no idea how.

I've been looking at posts on FISD and Marv looks like a source of T-tracks that will suit it. Not sure when I'll get chance to replace them though.

I also need to figure out how to duplicate the crinkle paint on the shroud as there's a small piece that has come off. Might have to sand it all off and repaint the whole thing.

It's an ATA Works helmet I bought as a kit direct from the maker, I built and painted it myself.

Very nice. The MR Force FX Vader lightsabers are very close to their LE counterpart regarding accuracy. So good choice. There are saber stands for sale on ebay. The Stormtrooper helmet looks very cool too, ATA is nice. I have one ATA ESB Stormtrooper and I might sell it soon.

Used some scrap wood I had kicking around to make a temporary stand for the lightsaber hilt. I'm not impressed with the ones I've seen on eBay, especially as most are really expensive when adding on the $40+ shipping to the UK. The few I've seen that were reasonably priced didn't appeal to me. I'll make my own, I've got a template for an E-11 stand I was going to get cut and there's enough space left on the acrylic sheet to get the lightsaber stand on as well.
