Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Anyone else think the Bio is on the small side?

I think looking at the pictures again, I'll display this with the unmasked head. I think the bad dread design looks less pronounced on the unmasked head. It's proportions just look better over all.

For the price they should include a separate stand for the other sculpt.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

The bio is too narrow, too rounded and sharp around the eye ridges etc, it's also a bit dull. I imagine It would have been complained about more by us moaning purists had there not been more obvious flaws. It does the job if nothing else. It was certainly mentioned before that the bio is a bit off.

I think if they had nailed the head there would have been a hugely positive attitude about this statue even given the huge cost.

Wow. I haven't compared them before, now it really sticks out to me and looks bad :( Looses it's 'reptilian' look. It always reminded me of a python head ( no pun :) ), but the maquette mask looks like just a mask they threw on it because it's supposed to be there.
Bummer. Don't think they will bother with fixin in.

The P2 always had a duck like look to it for me, maybe that was just me I don't know.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

It's never going to be 100% accurate. But it looks good enough. You know what it is.

I disagree. A highly paid sculptor should be able to miss nothing but the number of hairs on his bum. Even then he could have employed any number of the thousands of fans out there that could see the changes within 3 minutes or better yet, just look at a picture!

That's if it's a direct copy, which I don't think this is, seems more like an "artists impression" but then maybe that's why these things get called "Maquettes"

I don't mind people's "take" on a character if it's a comic book character but not a movie prop. This thing should be a carbon copy.

Makes you wonder sometimes what they hell they look at for reference when they are doing these, they could be great and they almost seem to mess up on purpose.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

That's in a perfect world. I was referring to Sideshow pieces never being 100% accurate. But I hear if you wait for Narins P2 it will be worth it.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Narin had a Predator 2 on Ebay a few weeks back, not sure if it was the one you are referring to. It was 1/4.

I double checked. It didn't look that great, accurate but pose was bland.

He is working on a 1:3 P2 as we speak.

I don't think anybody expects, or is asking for 100% perfection, just a few less obvious silly mistakes. Especially when they are mistakes that have been made and in some cases altered (1:1 wolf) before. A more screen like look isn't too much to ask when they are asking for $1200+ shipping and taxes on this thing. Things like the undersized spear and the weird dreads should have been picked up very early in the design process, before any sculpting began even.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Yeah that's what I mean, you can buy it now. It's fairly well priced but I can't be assed blowing my collection out of scale and then there's the paint....

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Yea but that's what I've come to expect from SS. I'm not surprised, therefore I am not disappointed.

Are you sure it's a narin statue? Do you have a link or a picture of the one you mean. His 1:3 P2 is not out yet and it seems it may be some way off as there are others in line to be released first and SS has since revealed this P2 maquette...

I'm almost certain it will be awesome when it finally does release... I do wish he'd offer resin alternatives mind but such is life.
