Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Not buy it.

Well that is the other option of course. Personally I'd rather see it in person than regret not getting it down the line despite my concerns, especially if those changes had happened which we now know won't. People at least know what they are getting now if they choose to buy it I suppose. Hopefully somebody with a lot of talent will work on a fix for the head, below the neck on this is really nice for the most part, small spear and random base aside. Pose is good also. i know it isn't ideal having to do add or alter anything on such a high priced piece but I'm aching for a P2 centerpiece, have been for years and this one isn't far off. three small changes for me. But we have been told in no uncertain terms it won't happen so there is no sense me harping on any more.

Don't you think that is all the more reason to show SS that is not the way to handle their own self made problems? No excuse for some of these issues. If they still sell well why would they care? Or bother getting the next one right. I would hate to have this same disappointment I feel with the next one they do. I jumped on the WL in hopes they would fix some issues by the time my conversion would come around, but that was wishful thinking with the latest news confirming no fixes.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

But that's the point - they are NOT selling well. A 300 ES on the EX tells you that. I'll also bet a night with Pamela Anderson and Angelina Jolie that they are STILL trying to sell the regular version (ES 1000) in 12 months time - maybe even 24. They screwed up - we know it - they know it. Will they learn? - who knows? But they could have made a LOT more money if someone involved with this has been less arrogant and more discerning.

Those of us that are fortunate enough to be able to pay out this sort of money for shoddy work are lucky. The folks I TRULY feel sorry for are those that have had to pass because they don't have the sort of "expendable" or "hobby" money to spend on something of inferior quality.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I had a good long look at my P2 LSB and decided to wait for in hand pictures before I order the regular...
It could end in tears.

I feel so much better about the situation i'm in now.
I had the Iron Man LSB on order for over a year and didn't end up getting that P.O.S.

Looking for a 1:5 Elder right now...

Man THERE's a sobering thought! :gah:

Good for you Col - it'll all work out for the best in the end (I hope).

I actually like the P2 LSB. The fact that I made more than enough money from the Savage Edition to pay for it helps.
It COULD of been amazing though. It demonstrates the difference between what's promised and what's delivered.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I love the P2 LSB sculpt (have the EX + the Savage + a broken Savage I'm going to have customised).

The production paint sucks big time - hence my "sobering thought" comment (and I guess your promised/delivered observation).

For such a large company, and THE major player in the collectibles community, Sideshow are SO amateurish in SO many ways.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Did not buy any of the 1/5. Really dislike each piece they've put out so far.

PS - The LSB is not so bad..

Just waiting for Matt, Python, to jump on :impatient:
Come on Matt!!! Forgive the base and dreads...less than 10 mate!

Oh I get it, I see your plan now Col, you pressure me into buying when I'd all but given up and then cancel letting me be the guinea pig hey? :lol

Haha, seriously though, I think you're probably doing it the right way, with 1000 pieces at $1200 the regular is going no where in a hurry so you have plenty of time to ponder over this. We know now that sculpt wise nothing is likely to change so the paint is the big question now. The Paint on the P2 LSB was pretty horrible and this thing is half the size with just as much detail so lets just hope they send this to their best painters and do it as much justice as possible. The P1 maquette was great so they do have it in them, or did, not sure if they have changed producers at any point, some pieces seem to come out looking a lot better than others. Might be wise to just PM Lee and ask him to keep you in the loop if stock does get surprisingly low down the line.

The paint work on this P2 will be incredible as Joe Dunaway has been given the job ;) and his painting skills are second to none.

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on forums as I have found out to my cost many a time lol, But I'll assume you are joking and just agree. In that case this will be epic ;)

Lol, I'm not joking. In my opinion Joe's work is fantastic. I have seen him work on many Predator's for Dan Richards who has sent great reviews. I'm not stating he is the best painter on the planet, but I am saying that with Joe painting it I doubt it'll be a disappointment. For you to think otherwise you just have a Joe Dunaway piece that you don't agree with... If so what?

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Ahh. He is one of the best no doubt, pretty sure he won't be painting the one's we get though I'm afraid.

Ah, will we not be? That side of the production I am not totally sure on and to be honest have never questioned it... Which is naive of me as after reading through many topics I should do.

What does this actually mean then :/

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

That is the list of people who had a hand in designing, developing and painting this. Joe is a master of paint, he painted the prototype that you see on Sideshows website and possibly the paint master that will be used as the basis for the production pieces, although Sideshows own painters may have painted the paint master, they also have some really talented guys, just check out there youtube channel. Unfortunately Joe wont be painting all 1300 of these, that would cost SS a fortune and take years. Production will be handed over to a factory in china where they will build up and paint these before shipping them over to us. This is why quality fluctuates so dramatically from prototype to production pieces at times as they simply cannot make these to the same standard as Sideshows artists and Joe Dunaway for example.
