Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I've not posted on this thread for a while. I was really torn over whether or not I was going to order this great piece after the Christmas period was over. I decided against because as much as I dearly want a high-end Predator collectable I just couldn't justify spending around £1000 on a character that I never really liked from a film I only rate 7/10. No matter how awesome he looks.

The first Predator is a 10/10 all time favourite of mine but I never quite got this Predators motivation. Not even back in the day when I rented Predator 2 on VHS. He hunts 'gang members'. The one in the first film hunts what's meant to be the elite warriors that our species has to offer. And yet this one jaunts off to L.A. to hunt 'gang members'. I watched it again over the holidays and I just decided that I don't really want a statue of that particular Predator.

I still like the film and it has some great scenes but of all the movie Predators I see this one as, by far, the weakest of his species. But he does look very cool and so I was genuinely tempted by this statue. I'll just have to wait for either someone else to do a high-end Predator 1 or wait for Sideshow to do a high-end Berserker statue. I will be all over that one when it happens.

So I just popped back here to say congratulations on the very low edition size to all those who pre-ordered this magnificent centrepiece. I would've been over the moon had I decided to ordered this beast.

There's some irony there somewhere - you love the maquette but haven't ordered it because you don't like the movie, we are displeased with the maquette yet have ordered it because we adore the movie.

Life's a funny wee lassie . . . . :)

PS: Won't ever buy a Berserker Pred regardless of how accurate it is - I think the designs of ALL the Preds in PREDATORS (excepting classic) are very poor.

So go ahead Sideshow - knock yourselves out on the "next 1/4 scale piece" in 5 years time - if it's Berserker, Tracker or Falconer, you won't be getting any more of MY money.

A few P2 pictures... just because he is awesome ;)

Oooooh . . . . . SHINY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again - what could have been (with a more qualified/diligent team designing and reviewing . . .)

P2 - my fave pred design ever - thanks for sharing Py.

Predator 2 is obviously not as good as the original but it's 100% my second favorite and a really enjoyable movie. I don't consider the AVP predators at all. Wolf was a great design but unfortunately for me his movie face was very poorly done (not on the statue's, the one in the actual movie). The "Predators" were ok but they have some questionable body proportions and mask. Also no netting made them look off.

Predator 2 for me offered the most insight into the species and the best development of the character. It gave us lots of new weapons, the clan aspect, an idea of their lifespan, details that they hunt other species (including Aliens), a more in depth look at their technology.

We (as Predator fans) probably owe more to Predator 2 than any other movie in the franchise including cross overs. It even started the whole AVP thing and a comic book series.

This is kinda how I feel. I love the statue, I love the look of the character but the movie is a 3/5 for me. It's really the P1 what I really want but I am tempted to go for it :lol because I love Preds, the coolest alien race in movies IMO

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I understand the Movie - Purchase theory but look at the LSF Wolf Predator, it's probably the best Predator to date from the worst movie. I actually didn't buy it because of this at the time but I regret it now (that and it was mighty expensive).

Predator 2 is a masterpiece compared to the AVP movies!
