Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Just read that again...

The sequel film introduced fans to a more colorful Predator for the urban setting, and Sideshow's artisans have faithfully hand-painted the vibrant complex skin patterns of the ruthless hunter with unrivalled authenticity

Oh dear!

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

That's before my time before I knew of this hobby, sorry. Now I know the hulk was a maquette and it was explained that it was a maquette and the maquette moniker was explained as a preproduction model of what was done on screen. SSC's Hulk maquette had its movie inaccuracies too but it was pretty close to the maquette shown on a promotional video with the actor who played David Banner. So again, a maquette is not suppose to be movie accurate unless the actual screen used character resembles its maquette. My guess??

But would you be buying this Hulk Maquette if he was bald! I would guess not... So when the City Hunter had quills... Where the **** are the quills?????

I don't know I didn't make the statue and thus this odd omission is a mystery to me too.
I suppose-and I'm guessing here, that unlike the hulk that is full of hair and would be noticeably bald if omitted, the predator's quills a rounds it's face is not as noticeable if left off as the predator does have other features around that area that quills are hard to see up close anyway, at least at this scale unless you're really up close. Furthermore,if we were to say this is based on a preproduction movie piece (maquette) I could see quills not being included as its not the full realization of the on screen character. Of course I'm guessing here with the idea of the whole maquette argument being even remotely plausible. But of course with SSC making their description as a "faithful recreation" of the character who know what the *******they were thinking when they omitted that detail. It kind of sucks because a lot people here are not happy with this piece because of that stupid description when IMO it really doesn't deserve such negative response as whole. And yes I'm too really annoyed about the decals! On any piece where you pay a good amount of money decals instead of paint is major let down, but unfortunately this not exclusive to just Sideshow, apparently.

Thanks for your question!

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Regardless of description the product offered failed big time.

Would we feel better, and order, if the description said 'similar to the awesome creature seen on screen'?...

I wouldn't.

If the P1 had no quills it would, also, look stupid. IMO it is very noticable.

Dude - you are probably a nice guy and that's why everyone's being so patient with you - but you're just not getting it.

We're NOT unhappy because of that "stupid description" or because it's called a "maquette" - it's because the flaws spoil what could have (and should have) been so awesome.

I would hope not as it would be described as not a true representation of what you want. I think that would be a valid reason to not even consider it for purchase.

That's really interesting. This piece has mistakes and inaccuracies on several different levels, yet you're able to overlook them. However, the use of decals instead of paint is what is annoying and a major let down for you.

That just goes to show you how we each have different requirements and things we look for when we buy collectibles. At the end of the day, we'll display the pieces we're happiest with.

So why do you keep saying the description has caused all the hate?

It is what it is regardless of how they describe it :slap

Dude I got it. Just putting forward a different plausible reasoning behind some of the problems on this piece other than that I appreciate the patience.

Because it describes and contradicts itself and what we as collectors want is what is descriptively advertised.
It it's called a maquette and by definition it not suppose to be accurate and if we are to believe that then it is what it is by design. It would then be fallible to be believe anything else or have a movie accurate expectation on this piece. But because SSC's negligence to describe it as something other than a maquette even though it calls it a maquette has unfortunately and rightfully put this piece in jeopardy of success which is a shame because taken as a maquette it looks like a nice piece that any collector may want to have.
So yeah I do believe that it being described as movies accurate and not meeting that expectation is the source of the unhappiness here.
Really guys I am a nice guy and not trying to defend SSC or anger anyone person on this forum so I'll say this:
It's not a good statue or a good representation of the on screen Predator 2 movie character, so all of you here looking for that on this forum are absolutely right and should not buy it or if you buy it modify it to your heart desires.
But what it is is a nice Predator 2 maquette with some nice features that I am personally happy with and I will be buying it for my own collection- so let's move on....

Happy Collecting guys!

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

The best and most accurate predator statue ever made was labeled as a Maquette, the term is irrelevant. Given these are being made after the actual movies and real suits etc, they will never technically be true Maquettes anyway. That term changes absolutely nothing, it doesn't make the P1 worse, and it doesn't make this better. Ultimately it comes down to what they look like. They could refer to the P1 as a super douchequette and it would still be no less amazing.... Just slightly harder to brag about.
