In today, yeaaah! :yess: Taxes and fedex fee about 110 usd. Real impressive piece, will have a closer look later.

Nice! Cool setup!

Nothing SS shouldn't be able to remedy by replacement especially this early on and if they don't just return it on their dime. You can always get the reg later on local perhaps even cheaper?

By regular - do you mean masked or unmasked?

We currently have it with the unmasked. I can send you a close-up pic tonight if that would help?

Sorry, I went all P1 on you, yeah meant the unmasked head. I've just got back from work, some of the production issues are bugging me more today. It's dark now, I'm going to look it over better tomorrow and contact SSC to see what they can do about it, seems I'll be needing a replacement regular head among other things, or the dreads at least so I can snap these off and replace them properly.

Sorry to hear that Col! Damn! All that $$$ for those issue :/
Mike usually looks after me.

Regs are much more expensive locally.

How do you guys drop a $1000+ on a statue you never liked, have pointed out the problems constantly and have basically never wished to own?

I know it was a $200 discount but its still a $1000 lol.

I'm not knocking anyone and of course its your money but i can't imagine me ever buying something for a $1000 which i never even liked in the first place lol, were not talking "eh it's only $100 lets see what it's like" its a $1000 lol.
Very good question mate! :lol

Size comparison with Hot Toys 1/4 Endo and 1/4 Mark 43:

The City hunter maquette is definatelly more towards a 1/3.5 piece.....or something.

Then i found a flaw on my unmasked headsculpt, very sluggish paintwork - it seems a brighter yellowish paint drop was left behind and dried on his cheek:

I'll rub it off with a sharp tool and probably repaint that area....but something like this should not happen. Full review soon. At least it seems nothing is broken.

Ok..

Got to open mine and despite a few issues I like it..

The good...

Paint much better than expected.
Size and presence are very impressive.
Bio fits flush on mine.
Love the armour and head stand, nice addition.
Strong magnets..
As Matt said, Ex display does look nice. (Especially when the Spear looks as bad as mine).
Dreads are not plastic, trust me I know :(

The bad...

Can't stress enough how bad the base has been painted. Never the best design to start with but the way the skulls/teeth have been painted is laughable.
Lack of quills is a real shame but not as bad as expected in person.
Spear is a joke. This much money and the can't cast a straight spear? Wait until you see mine.
Cannon has a blob of polystone in the slot making it impossible to attach.

The ugly...

Two broken dreads on my unmasked portrait.

So glad I got to see this in person. Deffo not worth the money but that's life.
Need to contact CS. Replacement portrait, Spear and Cannon then I'll be happy.

Congrats.... Some heat from a blow dryer might help you Spear problem.

Very much agreed with what is said above by Collectorcol. Getting ready to go to the painter soon- not to say its to good enough, but I want it a bit better!

Nice Averone! Are you going to have your painter go for screen accuracy or just make improvements? If you're going screen accurate, what reference material are you giving?

While you're at it, get your painter to fix the eyes. I don't know why they're painted to be more human-like, but it's just another aspect that proves how much lack of attention SS gave towards this piece.

are you having the whole statue repainted Averone? Those are some of the best pics I've seen of this so far. It seems this will end up being a success in the grand scheme of things. I'm hoping to open mine tomorrow. I don't think I've even read about any breakage or real sloppy paint apps either. SS is usually good for one or the other.

In all the pics I've seen of this so far, it looks fantastic from a distance, but up close shots look really bad. For those of you who have it in hand, does it really look that bad up close? Just seems to have this really flat, matte finish to it. Maybe a bit of gloss would give it some depth. Particularly in the mouth area which looks unusually dry.

I don't think the eyes are a problem. Here's what they look like in the movie...

Im not getting the eyes, they look screen accurate. I am not even sure if I can get the painter to get it screen accurate.
I trust most of it will improve. Im actually looking forward to mailing it out, and its hard to do since it just got here!

Wow didn't everyone jump the gun on this one when first pics surfaced ,hopefully we all learned a lesson lol ,looks great congrats to all who purchased .

I'm not 100% sure but I think I just noticed that while the eyes are pretty close to accurate, there should NOT be any black eye shadow around the eyes. The only reason they appear that way in most screen shots and the movie is because of lighting and the fact that the City Hunter has sunken-in eyes. If you look closely you can see it. It should probably be the same colors as the rest of his skin, not black.
