While you're at it, get your painter to fix the eyes. I don't know why they're painted to be more human-like, but it's just another aspect that proves how much lack of attention SS gave towards this piece.

I'm getting both heads improved, the unmasked head getting a new repaint and quills, the bio masked head is getting a new bio mask to replace this one, since the artist says he can fix the issue with the mask, hell I may ask him to redo the spear

I'm not sure how it's possible to resculpt the mask without re sculpting an entire new head as well.

The bio was sculpted to fit the head though correct? A supposed accurate sculpt wouldn't fit cause the shape of the head was made for this bio to fit. If a accurate bio was made, it would prolly be either too big or too small or the head would need to be resculpted

I believe you can sculpt whatever you want as long as you make the peg/key hole in the back the right size for the insert. Also make sure the outer perimeter of the new sculpt will match up with the size of the part you intend to attach it to.

The statue itself is still fantastic, the dreads etc etc, still the only part is the head. Defiantly going to see what I can do with the bio head, either a new head or get it redone

. . . Cannon has a blob of polystone in the slot making it impossible to attach . . .

Spike, does the cannon fit on yours with the regular head? Mine doesn't, not even close as the dreads on mine are floating out wide.

Sorry, I went all P1 on you, yeah meant the unmasked head. I've just got back from work, some of the production issues are bugging me more today. It's dark now, I'm going to look it over better tomorrow and contact SSC to see what they can do about it, seems I'll be needing a replacement regular head among other things, or the dreads at least so I can snap these off and replace them properly.

Hi Col & Matt – sorry for the delay (hectic couple of days) - and sorry to hear of the damage Col.

The pic below shows the placement of the plasma canon on mine.

I found the only way to get mine on was to put the “arm” in place first, then add the unmasked head, then add the canon.

As with Col’s – mine had some buildup in the hole in the canon. For all I know, it may be designed that way to fix the canon in position on the cut-out on the “arm”. Seems strange though as that would then allow for zero movement.

Regardless – I used some careful pressure to get the canon to push down into position, supporting the “arm” and rotating the canon slightly as I did it.

Net result a tight fit that ORIGINALLY squeezed up ultra-tight against the dred between head/canon & the dreds below the canon.

It’s now nearly 3 days since assembly. And going back to it, the dreds have “given” a bit, and the “arm” & canon now rotate at both pivot points quite nicely.

Hope that helps folks a bit.

I agree with you on the quality/price thing. Why did I order?

• In-hand pics showing Sideshow appeared to have done a better job with the paint & QC than was expected (the paint is much better than it could have been).
• A $20% ($240 USD) discount that could be used to fix some of the more glaring issues..
• My Son pestering me (he now regrets this).
• It allowed me to have a look at one in person.

• I now have the choice of returning due to QC issues & faults or reselling locally & making a profit. I’m going to give it a few days before deciding which.
• I also like that it reduces Sideshow’s earnings – compensation in a way. The EX would have sold out EVENTUALLY even without the discount but we now know they will HAVE to offer something similar now to shift 1000 REG’s.

In the meantime I’ve given him a nickname after one of the members here :lol

You ended up ordering it after everything that you said lol, come on man your killing me lol!! Well I kept mine so I guess we are even!! However you got a discount, so I am contacting ss about that bull ****!!

LOL - yeah - as explained. Glad to hear you've changed your mind too - I think that's the wise decision for you.

But I thought for sure you did not like this at all lol, you and the others ragging on this almost talked me into taking it back but I still liked it and its a hassel, however the main issue is a discount damn man I could use that 240 back it figures ss wont get back to me. Anyways either way I am keeping it because I like it I noticed those things and they are bad flaws but it makes me mad that every one jumped on the band wagon with this discount. Then pple telling the ones who ordered it with out the discount to stop complaining man I swear this forum sometimes. Well anyways never again am I listening to this forum lol!! take care man enjoy your statue

but then it still wouldn't be accurate cause it has to fit the shape of the head or it will just look weird. The whole head would need to be resculpted too

No its chill no worries, just thought it was funny now everyone buys it to each there own dawg!

I don't know, I'm no sculptor. Personally I would not commission anyone to re-sculpt what SS has done. It will be interesting to see what happens though as it sounds like some people will try it.

Here’s what I’ve pulled together from repeated looking at ours. I’ll post more detail tomorrow if I have time.

Basically, the things originally pointed out by so many of us are obviously still flaws – except for the paint & QC which although not perfect, certainly could have been a lot worse.

The interesting thing I noticed is that the more you look at this, the dred & quill issues bother you less, POSSIBLY because what you are looking at starts to morph your memories of how it’s supposed to look. Regardless of reason, it simply become more bearable as you get used to it. No idea why that didn’t happen with the pics – but the “in-hand” experience certainly DOES do that.

The bio is still oversized & badly sculpted and the spear is never going to star in a porn movie, but if you display the unmasked head AND angle it so the spear is at the back, those annoyances are minimized (pun on the spear possibly intentional).

I don’t think it’s worth the full asking price, but with a 1000 edition size on the REG, and with 400 EX copies already out there, it’s likely they are going to have to drop the numbers OR offer a discount to shift these. You’ll have to decide for yourself if the things that bug you merit waiting to see if that discount happens.

You could possibly end up with the best looking maquette. Glad to hear it and looking forward to your update. :duff
